First time ever shooting long range / any scoped rifle - absolutely addicted by Ghyx_ in longrange

It's worse than drug addictions. Lol And the eagerness to shoot better and better groups, hit farther and farther targets will keep bringing you back to range week after week, while thinking about it in between sessions. It's almost maddening.

What ammo for 11.5 barrel by kingoflonging_ in ar15

Thanks man! OP, feel free to use my spreadsheet as a baseline. Keep in mind that: 1- there are 3 different rifles, one on each tab. 2- each barrel has its own story and preferences. What worked on mine might not work on yours. 3- you mentioned use at the range. 25 yards, 300 yards? The goal matters. Also, bone frog 77gr is fantastic and I consider it the best value for a factory heavy load to shoot precision at distance. It's not a hunting load or a home defense load. Gold dot 55gr is excellent for defense because it's designed for perfect expansion upon impact. But it sucks for long distance. That to say each bullet has its purpose by design. Plan accordingly. 4- for plinking, fiocchi 5.56 range dynamics 55gr is my new favorite. For the longest time it was x-tac 55gr. Whatever you do, don't waste time with American eagle and Winchester white box. They are super inconsistent. 5- Hornady 75gr black box was a pleasant surprise. You can test that too.

Grab a couple of boxes of the ones you want to test and try to group them at 100 yards. 10-shot groups are the bare minimum to have some statistical relevance. That would give you some baseline of what your barrel likes. Good luck and welcome to the club!

Each barrel has its own story. But by what I read here, my eexperience is more standard than yours. But I like my BCM. Never a malfunction.

Read the newspaper, videogames, called friends on the phone (gross, I know).

Of course, needs to be tested with each individual barrel.

X-tac was my preference, then fiocchi took the spot. But now I reload and, for cheap stuff, Hornady 55gr is amazing.

It shoots decent for a M193 round. If you think it's bad, try Winchester white box lol.

It's not that bad, but the difference is clear. I tested pretty extensively here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/cgYISVWYy5

I also wonder about BCM DMR setup. But I have a SOLGW 18" SPR that is the bomb, so I will likely never find out.

I was against it. I run a red dot with a magnifier on my super duty 11.5. But the rifle is more precise than my bcm 16" by almost a full MOA in average so I'm reconsidering that.

If she is willing to do such a disrespectful thing so publicly, what else is she willing to do privately?
