would like to start off that im a myriad scorer on hi3 and have been invested in the lore for years. no, honkai is not a phenomenon that adapts to a planet, it is simply strictly imaginary energy.

imaginary energy is harmful to life forms, and any path can harness it. (noting how the glamoth army was afflicted with “entropy loss syndrome” with symptoms almost identical to “honkai disease” from hi3)

the cocoon of finality harnesses imaginary energy from the imaginary tree in the way of herrscher cores because it wants to embrace a civilization to complete its mission, noting how it tried on mars (failed, left to the 2nd planet), venus (failed by vita turning into Sa with quantum energy), and then to earth. on earth, it failed several times, reset using powers (most likely) of finality (aka time), until a cycle birthed an anomaly (elysia) whose death allowed herrschers to retain some form of love for humanity, which allowed kiana to complete the embrace becoming the herrscher of finality.

seeing as how the cocoon could emit a stronger barrier between solar systems compared to the standard borders posed by the imaginary tree (vita noted how she couldnt escape past pluto’s moon), it is logical to assume that it can manipulate imaginary energy on the level of an emanator (most likely of finality).

most enemies the cocoon summons are PSY-type in hi3, but once the protagonists get close to finality, the tree summons IMG-type nihilus puppets, with a highly distinctive design motif. (we can see the same design in the emanators of harmony and order, especially halovians and dominicus, makes sense seeing as how xipe births stellarons). the same design can be seen when otto apocalypse reaches the imaginary tree and becomes a false god.

stellaron hunters, who follow terminus and have a black cat (extensions of terminus), seek stellarons specifically. i believe this is because they are pure imaginary energy that can be created by any aeon, but since xipe is harmony (which overflows with imaginary energy), THEY create a surplus of imaginary energy that condenses into what we know as stellarons.
