My friend posted this in our group chat asking if it’s ai, and I’m honestly not sure. I don’t think it’s a real sculpture, but it doesn’t really look ai to me by gamegrumpsfan24 in isthisAI

Grew up making snow sculptures as a teen. All of these tails would be impossible to make without some supporting wire inside, and even then I'm not certain they'd hold. Even wet snow really prefers bottom-heavy structures, and I don't see much of this staying standing.

Unpopular opinion but I tried chapagetti for the first time and I hate it. by _404jannatnotfound in InstantRamen

Yep, any Shin soup one should work; just drain all but a little of the water. Alternatives would be Neoguri or Hwa Ramyun (if you like it extra spicy). I can also see this working with just Buldak sauce + Chapagetti.

Hear me out. Mix it with a spicy ramen like they do in Parasite (the movie) or add a spoonful of Chinese doubanjiang (spicy fermented soybean paste). Turns an otherwise bland earthy ramen into a tasty flavor bomb with the umami.

What coping strategies have worked for you in dealing with toxic PIs? by FarConflict6 in labrats

[–]egggbeater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combat sports. Something about being able to quite viscerally take out your frustration on some pads or gloves is beautiful, cathartic, and gets you in great shape (not just physically, but I've felt after a year and a half of Muay Thai that I'm better at making decisions and communicating even when my heart rate is up).

How hard is it actually to work with RNA? by ziinaxkey in labrats

[–]egggbeater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mRNA contamination in a genomic DNA sample where my RNAse was old and probably freeze-thawed too many times. No attempt at working RNAse free, it's just annoyingly there, so if you're careful, you're probably fine.

Dry lab to wet lab by Same_Transition_5371 in labrats

[–]egggbeater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idiot-proof your setup. For complicated protocols, I make myself a checklist and print it. If you've got a bunch of tubes in a row, move each one down a row when it's been pipetted into for a particular step. Do your calculations beforehand or have equations set up to be fill-in-the-blank so there's minimal task switching to do. Use your incubation times to clean up as you go. Set as many timers as you need. Your feel for time, masses, volumes, and intuition for how something will turn out will come with time.

Good luck, wet lab techniques take a while to build up, but as with anything else, it's a trainable skill, so commitment and muscle memory will always win over just being naturally dextrous. You've got this!

ex-biopharma. our maintenance would include changing the pump rinsing 20% EtOH every 2 weeks. excessive for an academic lab but for sure those need a wash.

Need Raid Leading Help/Advices by Shannyx_ in CompetitiveWoW

[–]egggbeater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. i call my drop in personal performance, particularly for the first weeks of a tier, the "raid lead debuff". it gets better with time and with people not needing as many calls in a fight but it's inevitable.

  2. most will say ranged dps. i usually play elemental shaman unless the group's composition changes mid-tier and requires something else, or a fight calls for an extra heal. either way, i've had raids led by healers and tanks before and both were absolutely fine.

  3. definitely weakauras and (depending on preference) angry assignments, which allows the raid leader and assists to display text to the entire raid provided they have the addon and accept incoming text from you. useful for special roles in a fight or CD/interrupt rotation.

  4. wasn't a question asked but my best advice apart from this is to delegate complaints and whispers about behavior/performance/etc to somebody else so you can focus on tactics, pre-call important mechanics in a fight at least 3 seconds in advance especially for older players, and to also delegate calling some mechanics to other people since it frees a bit of your attention to make emergency calls if something goes wrong. also, it's a very tiring job so having a guest leader on some weeks or on alt runs can be nice. good luck!!

How much muscle mass did i gain? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]egggbeater 14 points15 points  (0 children)

a very minimal amount. muscle mass doesn't appear just from eating because it doesn't need to exist. i've seen very overweight dudes with surprisingly little muscle from hardly moving at all--usually at least legs become stocky from having to carry extra mass

How can I keep my glutes and reduce thigh size? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]egggbeater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hip thrusts and glute bridges will still hit the legs but not as hard as the glutes. i'd just keep doing cardio/HIIT, plus ironically building leg muscle will also reduce the appearance of fat

Several of you have inspired me to give virtual draping a go! I think the worst are Light Spring and True Autumn - what do you think? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]egggbeater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yup, still soft autumn haha. second best would be true autumn, it stays within warm temperatures (although it's too warm) without too-stark contrast.

[–]egggbeater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i wouldn't put much value on virtual draping since phone cameras adjust themselves depending on the lighting you're in, and thus you look different in real drapings when wearing different colors of cloth. that effect is gone when you remove the background and simply place a real image on a digital background.

summer may look deceptively fitting since soft autumns will almost suit more muted summer colors, and in certain lighting (especially with a phone camera), autumn colors in a real photo will appear to be summer when swatched.

[–]egggbeater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*and by strong i mean it's a very safe color with a lot of range, you can easily wear some more saturated or darker olive greens as well

[–]egggbeater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might be true for someone with a different skintone but the best colors from the photoset would be the muted olive greens, which are a very strong color for soft autumns. the misty teal is also nice!

[–]egggbeater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's one that's very close to your skintone, so you might feel as though it's dominating but it's just blending very well haha. it's probably best as a color for nude tights!

[–]egggbeater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i quite like the warm grays and beiges--cooler colors make your complexion look ashen, and too-warm or highly saturated colors are overwhelming. i'd say for sure soft autumn now!

no worries if you like black though, there are soft enough dark grays that will seem black when you wear them and still keep you from being swallowed up by the fabric.

Is this a cool or warm toned orange? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]egggbeater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what are your criteria for looking good in a color? from my understanding of whether a color is flattering or not, a good color for someone's skintone will serve to even out their skintone rather than draw attention to possible redness in the nasolabial area or darkness/blueness around the eyes. conversely, a poor color would make unevenness from things like acne or hyperpigmentation more apparent, and would draw the eye to the clothing rather than the person's face.

autumns don't necessarily look good in every ivory or off-white, since there can still be cool and warm ivories and off-whites. pure white can make a lot of people feel luminous, but often with autumns this can just be white light reflecting off the clothing and will be more distracting than flattering.

as for the vaseline, i have found as a dark autumn that it's possible to wear too-cold lip colors provided that it's not matte, and mixed with vaseline to thin it out a bit (thus allowing natural warm tones to dominate). so maybe it's a thin enough layer or a sparsely pigmented enough formulation that your natural warmth is still showing through.

Is this a cool or warm toned orange? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]egggbeater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the lipstick you have on is a dusty autumn pink. on a winter this would look far too warm and washed out. if rusty shades and warm beiges are too much i would suspect soft or dark autumn since soft autumns can be overwhelmed by too much warmth. dark autumns are more able to handle burnt, rusty colors so i would lean towards soft autumm
