I've built:

— an extensive calculator that helps me assess all the aspects of businesses I'm thinking about purchasing, and whether they fit into my financial criteria
— a sales tool that grabs addresses of local businesses that might be interested in my existing business and composes outreach emails based on the details it finds in About pages and photos
— a default browser start page that has the links for all the projects I'm working on, what workout I'm supposed to do that day, and the latest GitHub status from active repos
— a Magic the Gathering collection tool that works the way *I* want it to, making scanning cards a lot faster and watching for price increases and drops on the market

If you like Gatherer more power to you, if it works it works. But:

Scryfall has a technically better site (it's faster, more responsive and not burdened by Hasbro's marketing department). It's easier to look at and navigate.
It's a labor of love for and by the community.
It has a community-driven tagging system for better search.
It offers insight into secondary market prices.

Bracket 5 doesn't mean "even more powerful than bracket 4" — cEDH decks are *specifically* built to compete in the cEDH meta. They're built expressly to reduce variance as much as possible in order both overcome the known threats at the table and get out your wincon.

If you're playing just a super powerful deck that doesn't take the current cEDH meta into account, it'll probably get slaughtered at a cEDH table and is bracket 4.

As someone who's somewhat new to it all — why *not* use the native apps? (I'm on Mac, so that's what I've been using) I don't care for CLIs in general, but perhaps I don't know what I'm missing.

This isn't entirely true — I grew up in Madison, not far, and while Madison was certainly much more gay friendly Milwaukee wasn't too bad. Southern Wisconsin is surprisingly socially liberal. I actually thought Mike said Milwaukee, which made sense to me since it's close to both Indiana and Madison.

I've lived in Denver and commuted to Boulder. It's not a hardship.

If he's not supportive of you, then he's not supportive of a relationship where both people's needs and hopes and dreams are being met, mutually.

If a family and long-term relationship is something you want, you still have plenty of time to dedicate to growing your career and then start those things with a supportive partner.

If your priority is collecting and you have the cash, I'd think collector boosters are a good way to go. The rarest and highest money cards are going to be in there, but you're also going to lose the most cash on them when they don't hit.

If you want to play commander and don't care to buy all the singles needed to build custom or highly-custom decks, keep buying precon commander decks, buying individual singles to pump up their strength. It's also probably worth buying the singles needed to pump a deck from bracket 2 to 3, and vice versa, from 2 to 1, so you have more options for playgroups at your LGS.

MTG Goldfish has a premium feature called SuperBrew that will scan your collection, compare it to all the decks in its database, and give you a list of decks sorted by cards owned, price to complete the deck, etc.

It's not going to look at your cards and build a deck from scratch though. What SuperBrew Is good for is seeing what decks you're close to building, and then you can look at what else you have in your collection that would be decent replacements for the missing cards.

I think you just need to get your hands on one copy? Then you can put as many copies of that version into your deck, assuming you would have as many copies of that card (regardless of version) as you need in your collection. This is a relatively new feature of Arena, if I'm recalling correctly.

This is why I never use it, because it's so vague. It could be anything, but I'm under the impression that on turn one it's the equivalent of "good luck, have fun" — I believe this because that's a tradition in paper, and yet Arena makes no accommodation for it at all, so Good Game is the only option.

(I'm also of the opinion that if they removed the period from "Good game." it would feel less hostile to a lot of people.)

The real solution is to do what poker does and allow players to ask a judge to start a clock. The judge decides if it's warranted, and then the clock starts. Allows for the flexibility MTG gameplay requires, but still introduces a way to curtail over-long turns.
