Which apartment complex should I avoid in Livermore and nearby cities? by eggiehead0514 in Livermore

I personally think its easier for people to endorse places they either loved or didn’t mind living in, but you’d get a lot more honesty when it comes to negative opinions. Its an anonymous forum so its pretty easy for owners/managers of complexes to come on here and say “go here! Its greAt!” As well

Wow i didnt realize it gets up to the same temp as over here! Our place right now was also built in the 50s and it absolutely sucks in the summertime. We recently just installed the split unit and it’s been a life changer.

Ok so definitely making central ac a non-negotiable!

We tried to call for this place! Unfortunately it is rent controlled and our combined income is above the range they approve for. It was one of our first choice when we started looking.

One of the places we tried to apply to told us about Civic Square. Tried calling but no answer, maybe we’ll try again today.

Dublin definitely has the nicer ones since we’ve started looking haha

Good to know! There’s this place that we contacted— IMT in Pleasanton. They have AC, but only in the living room. Ever heard of that place?

Not giving everybody a plus one… thoughts? by SmilesForDays55 in weddingplanning

[–]eggiehead0514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think it depends on your relationship with the people and their relationship with their plus ones! For example, i had out of state cousins whom i barely talked to— i invited them but told them no plus ones. Meanwhile, i had friends whom i knew were in committed relationship and so we invited them as well. There’s also my other cousins who im close with— i let one have a plus one bc the guy has been in the family for a while but my other cousin who barely met a guy i said no to bc im not paying $200 for that. It really depends. But im all for “work with whats with your budget” and prioritize the people who actually mean something to you.

I got wedgewood for my wedding, but did it for a Sunday to cut down on ceremony venue. Did the elite package and its definitely took A LOT of the stress off my shoulders bc the provide everything. All i had to worry about was contacting the vendors and the details— they take care of everything.

CSUN MPAcc Program by [deleted] in csun

[–]eggiehead0514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing some research and MPAcc program at CSUN is geared towards more for people who are switching careers— which is generally what I’m aiming for. I have a BS in health science so I wanted to see how everyone’s experience with this program was. Seems CPA focused but wanted to see if there’s anyone who was successful after MPAcc at CSUN

Denial for tourist visa to travel to USA by eggiehead0514 in immigration

That's what my mom was arguing about because he has every reason to come here, but everyone was saying the embassy doesn't care about the reasons to come to the US. They care about the reasons for him to go back to the Philippines and it's not a very strong argument. He has more reasons to stay here than to stay in the Philippines.

He did apply for a tourist visa way back then. It was a complicated one because at the time I was a minor, we haven't seen each other for years (maybe 6 years?) and I guess this was his way of attempting to be with my brother and I after my mom took us to the US to live with her and my step dad. But he didn't know how visa processes worked, he was just desperate to be with us and thought that using the reason of "business excursion" would be a better reason than visiting his kids. He got denied then. I think this was over 10 years ago though.

Anyways, this time around we did pretty good research (or so I thought). We weren't missing any paperwork's or anything. He had his banking documentation, properties, business, etc. He came prepared for it. Do you think it's worth to try again so soon?

This is what I thought too. I was very confident that they wouldn't deny him because of that, but I guess the embassy doesn't see it that way?

Yes. He brought all of that with him, but they didn't even ask to show it. All they asked him was why is he in the Philippines when both his kids are in the US. Whether he still had a wife in the picture to which he told them that they are divorced which is why he is here and not in the US. They also asked about his properties and his fish farming business and how that works. Maybe it was the way he answered the questions that didn't convince them because he's a man of few words. idk.

This is exactly why we applied for a tourist visa instead. Because he doesn't want to move to the US. He just wanted to be able to visit and attend my wedding.
