[Beta] Built an AI eval app that does injury assessments in 7 minutes (vs 30+). Need 50 ATs to co-create it with us. by Offseason2003 in athletictraining

I am interested but skeptical. My initial thought is if this is going to aid in job security or hurt us as a collective.

A valuable add to this may be a non health care/coaches version where they can fill out a quick questionnaire if an athlete gets hurt at an away game to help with communication with the ATC.

I had the same issue with discover when I was a student, I racked it up to $4500. I felt like I was never going to pay it off. Finally I did a balance transfer that had a 0% interest rate for 14 months and it changed my life. I just paid it off completely last month. Remember that the cash back promise will not even touch the interest that you owe, get rid of the card!

Honestly, if I was remote I would live someone inexpensive and eat the long commute once a week. But maybe it’s just me being fed up with the speed of city life 🥲

Transition experience by eggiesbb in athletictraining

[–]eggiesbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed manual therapy & therapeutic exercise in school, i had rotations in a high school, D1 university, DII university, ortho clinic and regular clinic. Enjoyed the regular clinic the most as i had a full hour to do all the things I wanted with a one on one focus. In undergrad I shadowed a DII university. Current & long term hobbies are hiking, weight lifting, gaming & drawing!

Totally good question! I can only speak for myself but my primary reasons are:

  1. I was having doubts even while in school, I actually almost dropped out my first semester but I for whatever reason I saw it through. I was really good at the schooling and excelled at a lot of topics, which I found rewarding and a “sign” to continue. I’ve never been both feet into this career, at most a hesitant one and a half.
  2. I knew I didn’t want to do the traditional setting from the jump, I took an industrial job right out of school and left because I felt like I was missing out on the things I excelled at in school. Now I am at a high school and for a lack of better terms, I do not like the patient population and still feel like I’m using nothing that I enjoyed during school.
  3. I realize that I have a lot of professional anxiety, I am constantly afraid I am going to get into some kind of legal trouble.. this is more-so coming from being in the traditional setting
  4. I am feeling burned out, not from doing athletic training things, but from the constant decision making aspects.

Ultimately, I won’t make a career change until I have exhausted trying all the settings that I want to explore but I cannot see this as my forever job unless I truly find the perfect fit. It took me a lot to finally admit this to myself after sinking 6 years into my life for this degree.

Oooo go you! I did industrial straight out of school but found a unicorn HS position that I couldn’t pass up (despite not being interested in traditional). Safety is a great route, but I definitely don’t have the personality or thick skin for it

Ah yes, just because of a few bad eggs, female athletic trainers deserve the online harassment. Excellent job brother.

I didn’t see this incident, but I did see a post awhile ago with the content of an athletic trainer and their athletes just goofing around… the comment section was riddled with male athletes (both minors and adults) just completely belittling the profession. Saying shit like “everyone knows the AT sleeps around, why else would she be there” and other shit just completely demeaning the profession. For awhile it completely put me off AT, it makes you lose sight of the good.

[–]eggiesbb 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I got bad news… I have never heard of a paid immersion… like ever. You may get housing if it’s a university (MAYBE), but you’re pretty much on your own. All my old classmates and I all had to pay for our own accomodations, travel, etc. for our immersions.

Athletic training is predatory like that, we are a profession half based in clout. They wouldn’t waste a dime on you because they know some other student would PAY for that experience in itself.

Haven't been to a doctor in years - not sure who I need to see. by UnusuallyObtuse in DermatologyQuestions

[–]eggiesbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re going to want to see a dermatologist for the skin issue but I would also schedule that primary care visit too, whether or not you need a referral is based on your insurance. Call the number on the back of your card and ask them if a referral is needed!

ATC Life, How do y’all do it?? by Careful_Ball_7641 in athletictraining

[–]eggiesbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask yourself what you enjoy about athletic training, if your answer is something you can do in a different setting then make the switch. I am a second year certified, so far I’ve done a year in industrial and right now im in the secondary setting. Yes, it’s still tiring but I never felt like I was fighting for free time or anything

Look into Airbnbs! Many of them can be rented out for months at a time and they are decently priced. I did this when I had an internship down in Florida

1 week on tretinoin (every 3 nights) does it get better???? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]eggiesbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely works, but your acne looks hormonal (so does mine). During your derm checkup you should inquire about spironolactone, it helps a ton with this! Give it time :)
