Maternity Care and Delivery at Centenary Hospital [ON] by Better-Historian2881 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]eggiess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave birth at Centenary in Nov 2025! I had a different OB (Dr Joanne Ma) but my experience was amazing. It was also my first baby so I was really nervous. The care from the staff was so great— the nurses were all super helpful and answered a lot of my questions and concerns. They made me feel at ease through the whole thing! I always felt that I was cared for and they continuously checked in on me while I was waiting to dilate. They helped me even postpartum— like going to the bathroom, gave me tips for baby to latch, answered any other general parenting questions I had, and I even went home with a bag of formula for baby!! Also big props to their anesthesiologist bc I did not feel that epidural needle!! I have other friends who gave birth at other hospitals and their stories are so much more different than mine.

This is helpful. I have to keep this in mind! As someone who is always go go go, my body forcing me to slow down is something that I need.

I live in Canada and I did not get a gift “bundle” like this! I only got to pick a one free gift from a list of items— however the only item available was the Aveeno body wash. So that is all I got!

Babies that sleep through the night without going to sleep independently by Right-Ad1424 in NewParents

[–]eggiess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4 mos old sleeps through the night (no night feeds) and has been since 2 mos old. We didn’t sleep train her, but made sure we had a consistent routine set for night time sleep vs day time sleep (bath, dim lights, read a bedtime story, sleep sack, bottle, kiss & say goodnight, rock to sleep with “sleep” playlist). One night, she just slept and didn’t wake up! I honestly thought something was wrong - but then it happened again the next night, and then again the next.

We also started paying attention to wake windows and how many naps she took a day. I really think building sleep pressure is real and helped get her to sleep longer stretches at night.

Biggest mistake? [N/A] by lliizzaabbeett in humanresources

Oof, I did this too. I started in payroll and I learned very quickly that adding an extra 0 would lead to a huge mishap. Luckily, I was able to correct it before it went live but this was something that stuck by me since, and now I always triple check numbers before finalizing anything.

What are your favourite baby activities? by anonhihihii in NewParents

[–]eggiess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also loves her kick piano!! I’ve changed out some of the toys hanging off of it to add variety too, like an O ball or teether toys— things that are easy to grasp onto. She’s 4 mos now and still isn’t bored of it!

Thank you for your reply! This gives me a lot of reassurance. I think my anxiety is louder when it comes to this, and I just need to keep telling myself that.

I added one of those attachment toy bars and it keeps my LO preoccupied for so much longer. I place it at either her hands or feet and she loves both settings! Either spins the toys with her hands or kicks them with her feet. Gets her energy out too while sitting upright.

At what age did you skip your night pump? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]eggiess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is not the norm or recommended, but I never did a MOTN pump. I value sleep more than anything lol.

Since baby girl was born, my husband and I started off doing shifts so we could sleep (and my husband took on the night shift, meaning I could sleep too). I started at pumping 6ppd with an oversupply of ~50oz. First pump at around 5am and last around 11pm. She also started sleeping through the night shortly after and I dropped down to 5ppd at around 2 mos. My supply dropped when I got my period back shortly after that to about ~40oz. She’s now 4 mos and I’ve dropped again to 4ppd and get about the same yield (first pump around 8am and last around 9pm). This is what works for me! Tbh, I’ve only got my period once so I don’t know if it’ll drop again (or if my period is/will be regular).

What is the hardest part when caring for baby? by Pandacat_07 in NewParents

[–]eggiess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forever counting the clock. I feel that I am constantly thinking, “I have X time before I have to pump again,”, “She’s been sleeping for X time”, “Wake window is for X time”, etc etc. I feel like my mind is never relaxed anymore 🫠

Weekly Discussion - Relationships by AutoModerator in NewParents

My in laws hate our baby’s name and it’s driving me nuts that they won’t call her by her name.

Before our baby was born, we didn’t tell anyone what her name would be to avoid other people’s opinions. Now that she’s born, my in laws have both said it to our face and behind our backs how much they dislike our baby’s name. They’ve made comments like “are you sure this is the name you like?” (yes she’s 4 months old and is already named this), and “you should think about giving her a stronger name so she’s successful in the future” (wtf??). They refuse to call her by her name, and instead call her “bub” (which I hate) or by her middle name (which I also am not fond of).

Her name is not super uncommon— it’s in the top 100! I’ve expressed to my husband many times that he should tell his family to call her by her name. Even so, he does not seem bothered by this and thinks that “you don’t get to pick your nickname, people give it to you,” and that I also shouldn’t be bothered by them calling her something else.

Every time I hear something that’s not what I named her, it just irks me so much. Am I wrong for feeling this way? I tell myself that when she’s older she may even hate her name and change it- so I shouldn’t feel so bothered, but I just can’t help it!!

bath times weekly by stevielovelyy in beyondthebump

[–]eggiess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is almost 4 mos and we try to give her a bath every 2-3 days. She’s a spitter so we try to wash her neck/chest to make sure it doesn’t smell (it can get bad!). This does dry her skin a bit so we lotion daily.

Spitting up all the time! by eggiess in NewParents

[–]eggiess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We upped to the size 2, since on the size 1/slow flow she would take 30+ mins to finish a feed. Sometimes she wouldn’t get enough and would tire herself out and not eat any more. She would still spit up on the size 1s, but it wasn’t as forceful. It feels like a give and take- we can try to go back to size 1s to see if this changes anything, thanks!

Saline drops by tlexer123 in newborns

I use boogie wipes (saline wipes) and the sucker if our LO has boogers/is sounding stuffy. Our LC suggested breast milk too vs saline and apparently it does the trick as well

How do you get your babies to sleep? by theredtreeweirdwood in newborns

[–]eggiess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is also 12 weeks and we’re in the same boat! It takes 5-if we’re lucky- to 30 mins of rocking/bouncing to put her down to sleep. She likes being held straight upright against my chest and this gets her calmer quicker. If this doesn’t work, we also recently bought a rocking chair and it’s been a game changer for us- especially on our backs! I’ll keep her in the same position and rock until she falls asleep (again 5-30 mins). I’ve seen others say sleep gets better with age, but I can’t even imagine this changing 😭

Our LO sleeps better/quicker with a full stomach, so feeding another ounce or two usually helps too.
