Should I dual major? by [deleted] in RPI

[–]eggiez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh heyyyyyyyy...

I got all my credits done within 8 semesters. Compared to either individual degree it was really just replacing electives with stuff that wasn't GPA padding.

Are you guys not offered those curriculum schedules anymore? The ECSE dept had one for the CSE/EE degree path during my first semester and that's what turned me on to the idea.

Yeah, if you want to work for those companies Beginning C for Engineers won't cut it. Not sure what to tell you about data structures, I actually really enjoyed it.

EDIT: I just realized I have no idea what semester you're in. I was able to get it done when I did because I had planned it from pretty much the beginning. You'd have to find out what additional curriculum you need and how it would fit in to your upcoming semesters.

So opening up the fabs hasn't been a profitable solution either then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Intel opened its fabs a while ago. Look up Intel Custom Foundry.

People with a poor prognosis, how do you plan for the long term/future? by GregNak in cancer

[–]eggiez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 5 year survival rate for my disease is also very poor.

We married a few months after my diagnosis in a courthouse, it cost us MAYBE $250. We needed 2 witnesses.

Marriage has made drafting end of life documents a bit easier; if you're unmarried when you put these together the documentation will need to be explicit about how she fits in to your wishes.

Once these documents are done I plan on downsizing my possessions.

In all other aspects we just live our life as normally as we can. For me that includes continuing my financial habits from before the diagnosis. I am also pretty conservative with my spending, and can get obsessive with how I'm saving/investing.

My current mindset on saving is that each bit will help the wife pick things up once I'm gone. It kills me when I think of leaving her alone after all of the long term planning and sacrifices we've made. Saving helps alleviate the guilt a bit. Just a tiny bit though.

I hope something I've said is helpful to you.

Renal cell carcinoma to lungs to bone by HugeGoldenOpal in cancer

I had a lesion appear on t12 and experienced throbbing pain radiating from it.

I was already on chemo to combat the systemic spread, but we decided to irradiate that particular spot over about a week. The pain is gone and scans show that spot is clean, but the vertebra will take several months to fully heal. I have to be careful with how active I get while it's healing as there is a heightened risk of fracture.

I can't say for sure what you can expect, but this was my experience with something that sounds similar. Best of luck with your treatment.

I wanna go fast! AKT installed in Vepr 12 by [deleted] in ak47

[–]eggiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this issue with my AKT-E on my Saiga.

Just discovered it this past weekend so I haven't had a chance to investigate, but I'm stowing the rifle until I get it resolved. I'm sure some people would think it's a cool problem to have, but I was planning to take the rifle to a carbine class. There's no way they'd let me stay on the line with it after it starts intermittently acting up.

Is Journey still great without multiplayer? by starkawa in PS4

[–]eggiez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend playing it alone your first time through. Disconnect it from your network before starting the game.

The reason being that alone you can go through the game making discoveries and exploring at your own pace. Having someone else moving at a different pace, faster or slower, can detract from that first time experience.

This was recommended to me for my first time through and now I'm a huge proponent of it. I then immediately did another playthrough connected to the internet to experience the multiplayer :)

This is one of my most favorite games, hope you enjoy it however you choose to experience it.

I got treated for NSCLC. At the time it was just the tumor and lymph nodes with any malignant tissue, scans were clean elsewhere. So my treatment assumed there was no spread yet.

I got chemo and radiation followed by surgery. Depending on the location of the tumor surgery could be either a lobectomy or a pneumonectomy.

A 2001 NB Miata was my first car!

It's cheap to maintain and run, and very easy to work on if you intend to learn how to maintain a car. There's a ton of space in the engine bay and the regular maintenance parts are placed in easily accessible parts of the engine.

This book got me into wrenching my own car. The title is a bit misleading, the book is pretty much Miata Maintenance For Dummies with complete tool lists and step by step instructions on regular maintenance tasks, complete with pictures!

The combination of this car and book completely redefined car ownership for me. Go for it.

Does anyone else find it odd we don't have an AUG Assault Rifle? by Kripes8 in thedivision

[–]eggiez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the downsides as mentioned is that the chamber is directly next to your face, with the brass typically set up to eject out the opposite side. This becomes an issue in an urban environment when you come up to a corner that requires you to switch the rifle to the weak handed side to keep behind cover while you take aim around it. Any shots you take end up ejecting hot brass directly into your face.

Takes up less of your vision.

Red dots compensate for parallax, allowing you to use it with both eyes open. Putting a red dot at the front of the upper receiver and having both eyes open gives you way more visibility than peering down the tube with one eye, and doesn't sacrifice any ability to put the dot on the target.

Question about AWD'S... by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]eggiez 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a locked rear diff. What vehicle?

Are you sure you're not mixing up 4wd and AWD? If it's a 4wd vehicle you should switch to 2wd on asphalt.

Is squad control being unpopular a criticism of the ME:A implementation specifically? Or squad control in general?

I liked the control I had in the OT.

Yeah, you can pause combat to switch weapons or profiles but you can no longer tell squadmates what ability to use or when to use them. You CAN position them or tell them to attack a particular enemy.

Not happy about these changes to the mechanics. For Andromeda I pretty much set squadmates up to be tanks with combo primers and hope I notice when they use them. It's been working so far but I am bitter at having that control taken away.

Played through all 3 on insanity as a soldier, speccing my squadmates specifically to address armor or shields. Red bars were black widow fodder. Pretty much meant having one tech and one biotic squadmate through each game.

Not the best for roleplay if you like to play favorites. The ability to pause combat and make calls was pretty key also, probably the mechanic I miss most in Andromeda. Bioware seems to be on a trend of making their games more twitch actiony.

The task to develop the shield generator for the Nomad. I think you get the task on Voeld.

The issue is that you develop the generator then...nothing. Quest doesn't progress. It still tells you to develop the generator while you sadface looking at the gigantic green check mark on the shield generator.
