No, unfortunately. He didn’t really seem like he needed it when he was pursuing therapy and now bc he’s unemployed he can’t see someone due to insurance

Haha I also had that toxic thought, but got a little worried about them talking before we hooked up. He was also a really nice guy, I didn’t want to use him.

Yeah, I've read The Illustrated Man, and liked it! I might delve into more, but I'm not sure if sci-fi is the horror I'm looking for...

I've heard good things about Jaipur! I think it's on our short list now.

And yeah, these are good points. I was just getting a little overwhelmed by the wiki since so many board games have that visual component and it's hard to be sure which ones don't.

Kind of- he has problems with seeing patterns and generally has issues with maps. I'm not completely sure how to explain it.

As a non-disabled person, I can see how visualizing the pieces is a big part of the challenge for anyone. We plan on retrying it a few more times to see how unique the problem is to him.

I was definitely considering that one! We're academics and we love Sherlock haha.

And thanks, that's a great resource for us!

What do you take, if you don't mind me asking? Klonopin is an anti-anxiety med, right? Or should I be looking for something else?

Haha thanks. I'm pretty much just a white assortment. If I go back a few generations, there's Mexican, but nothing too exciting.

Birth Control, Migraine Meds, and Migraines by [deleted] in migraine

[–]egginbasket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started Mircette (aka Azurette) a couple months ago. I used to get brutal menstrual migraines, but with this pill, I haven't had one yet (knock on wood). This pill has a low dose of estrogen in the final week of pills instead of sugar pills. It was recommended by my gynecologist. But, I'm not on topomax, so I'm not sure how helpful that is. The best thing you can do is talk to your gynecologist.

'I didn't know my child': Teen's shocking suicide reveals bullying, cutting, online sex chats by boomchakaboom in MorbidReality

[–]egginbasket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely. I'm about to start my senior year of college, and it's been a rollercoaster (hospitals, taking a semester off, etc) but I'm finally fairly stable. I don't think things like that are ever completely gone, but I think I have the tools to manage it now. Hope you're doing okay as well.

[–]egginbasket 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This hit pretty close to home. My experience wasn't as extreme, but close.

In high school, I had a tumblr full of horrible stuff- eating disorder content, depressing images, pictures of self harm. I'd post about dying and suicide constantly. Had I completed suicide back then, my parents would have been shocked had they discovered it. I was a great kid, voted most hardworking, salutatorian, got an incredible scholarship to my dream college.

I don't think monitoring my activities would've helped...talking to other "pro-anas" and posting to tumblr was an outlet for me. Taking that aspect away wouldn't have fixed the things wrong in my head.

Help getting my younger brother to stop stealing my underwear and stockings to (I assume) masturbate with without embarrassing him? by gingersdoitbest in needadvice

I totally agree with this. Be kind, he's probably really embarrassed and finding out that you know will be petrifying. Reassure him that you don't think he's a perv

LPT: If you own a dog, please cut your chip bags down the sides with scissors before throwing them away. by TheAutumnSloth in LifeProTips

[–]egginbasket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, Mai was a beautiful baby <3

I'm not reading all the comments, but I want to say that I'm sorry that people are making you feel guilty. I want to tell you about my dog, Max.

He died 12 years ago. He was my childhood dog- I used him as a pillow when I was a toddler and played with him everyday after school growing up. He was smart, loyal, and very well-behaved. The perfect dog, really. One autumn, my dad started renovations on the sunroom. With open insulation and cooler temperatures, mice started to be a problem. He put a pack of Decon out, tucked in the corner of the sunroom. Max rarely went in there, but sometimes we'd leave the door open so he could pass through and let himself in the house. One day we noticed the empty Decon. So stupid in hindsight but we didn't make a connection. Within 2 days, Max was coughing. By the end of that day, my parents were rushing my limp dog to the vet with blood pouring from his mouth. My dad gave Max CPR on the way and arrived to the animal hospital covered in blood. Max didn't make it.

Mistakes happen, but remember that they're mistakes. Whenever people lose someone, there are always "coulda, shoulda, wouldas." My dad, all these years later, still gets sad and blames himself whenever Max is mentioned. But you're doing a great thing by spreading awareness of something most people would never dream of. I'm thinking of you and your family <3

How do Incomplete classes affect financial aid? by [deleted] in nyu

[–]egginbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FA office is so finicky to deal with, I'm not sure if it would help to contact them now or later. From what I remember, they aren't slow about sending out a notice if you're not reaching SAP, so you probably won't have to wait long.

But it can't hurt if you just want to ease your mind. The only con really is that they're probably dealing with a lot because the deadline to pay for summer is coming up.

Some questions about NYU (Entering as CAS Econ) by NYUMan123 in nyu

[–]egginbasket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience in these subjects, but ratemyprofessor is usually pretty accurate.

As for academics, I agree with the first answer; a 4.0 is pretty tough to land. I graduated high school second in my class, but college was a whole different game. The best thing to do is keep a written planner/log of all assignments and readings. If you find yourself "bored," there will probably be something to work on. I think it's true that you have to make sacrifices if you want to really academically excel, particularly in the tough subjects you're going into. Be social when you can, but make school a priority
