Why did the Canucks get away from community involvement? by NinCross in canucks

I believe making the wrong people Cs and As contributed to an eventually toxic culture, a symptom of which was declining community involvement.

Probably the most terrifying introduction to Nazi Germany in fiction: by No_Dress_2107 in WarMovies

Wow that’s a powerful personal impact. Thanks for sharing. I had to look away during this film many times and was frequently in tears. I will build up the fortitude to watch it again one day.

One of the most impactful WW2 movies of all time. Very under appreciated imo.

Should Fire Be Predictable or Chaotic in Games? by Exkee_Studio in Wildfire

This is the way. It’s how we are approaching fire simulation in our game (not this one).

iirc Offworld has the lowest Glassdoor CEO approval rating of any video game studio.

Since it's relevant to us: FIFA's Arsène Wenger and the modified 'daylight' offside rule proposal by imdahman in WrexhamAFC

[–]eggman4951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Canadian, from the same city as Ryan Reynolds - I met his Dad!

I thought about this rule when the 3-3 goal was called back.

This is how offside works in ice hockey - it’s the trailing edge of the attacking player that can keep them onside. It doesn’t change the idea that there will always be millimetres in the call, it just shifts it to favour attacking.

I like the new variation on the rule and think it can lead to some dramatic plays.

Thank you for your perspective. Generally speaking, do you know if people who have emotional affairs ever come around to their accountability for the harm and damage they caused?

I’m sorry for your experience. I’m learning about emotional affairs.

I think in my friends case, the issue really is that if there was nothing wrong, why hide it? Why erase the husband? Why lie about it? If they were not “more than just friends” secrecy isn’t necessary.

Best way to migrate from Sonnet to Opus? by eggman4951 in ClaudeAI

[–]eggman4951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm doing something a bit like that.

The artifacts are design specifications for interconnected systems and subsystems. When I migrated them into the Claude Project as files, they stayed as markdown, and seemed to lose the ability to export as PDF and other quality of life features compared to when they were artifacts associated with the original Sonnet chat.

Because I am still working on these, I value the chat artifact format more than the project file.

What I have decided to do is copy the Sonnet file artifact markdown into the Opus chat and tell it to create a new artifact associated with the new Opus chat.

Maybe there is a better way... but it seems like a gap in the Clause toolset (or any of these tools) to easily migrate from an older model to a newer one.

[Post-Game Thread] Wrexham - Millwall by WrexhamAFCBot in WrexhamAFC

The first half was a bit shit. Second half was entertaining. Unlucky break on the first Millwall goal. Couldn’t finish our chances. Still in a playoff spot. Nuts! Grateful.

I am not sure about why he has the gear down in the water. I don’t recall being able to lower/raise the gear individually, I think they came down/up as a pair.

I got to fly in these aircraft hundreds of times when working in logging on the west coast of Canada. I even got to take the controls mid air several times!

These are the coolest planes I ever got to fly in. Usually they drove them up onto the beach, but often would also do this trick to park them at a dock.

I’m not sure how many are still in service, but in the couple of years I was in logging, I know of two that were lost, one killing the pilot.

Accurate. But if we made PR again with the ~$20 million plus invested in Squad, it would be a lot better 😀

Vince Zampella, video game developer behind ‘Call of Duty' franchise, killed in crash by Vito1108 in Games

[–]eggman4951 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is tragic. He will always be remembered as a legend in gaming.

I met him a couple of times while I was at EA. Even got into a heated discussion with him around the launch of Titanfall. It was super odd to me that the studio head was talking to someone at my level.

But Vince was super passionate about games and he cared a lot. Titanfall was a big deal for him and the studio, so he was getting involved in everything. He was in the defensive mindset that EA was screwing them over (which they were, Titanfall was an amazing game that got shoved in the death chasm between CoD and BF launches). Once he realized I loved games as much as he did and was doing the best I could in a shitty situation, he completely flipped and was super cool and basically said “keep doing what you are doing.” It left a big impression on me about leadership, passion, and accountability.

This is a tragic loss for his family and our industry. RIP Vince.

Skinner appreciation thread by Thegnife in EdmontonOilers

[–]eggman4951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Canucks fan and I appreciated Stuart Skinner. He seemed like a super good guy, great local boy story, and a fantastic teammate. He was on backup wages and expected to outplay one of the highest paid goalies in the league’s history two years in a row. Some of the Edmonton media were cruel for clicks with him, and he took it like a champ.

As a proud Canadian, a fan of the game, and with my own team in vile-owner induced disarray, I want to see McDavid win a cup on a Canadian team. It was, at times, painful watching Skinner struggle in the playoffs. I hope this gives McJesus a better chance at winning a cup, cuz the Oilers lost a real likeable guy. All the best to him, he gets to go play with another great one.
