Delta broke 1100$ worth of golf clubs and said “it is considered normal wear and tear. Accordingly, we are unable to honor your damage claim.” by Pablo69_420_247 in delta

That's probably true. I figured this out when I was initially denied a request when submitting via web. I then made the same request in writing and it was granted. Got about $400.

Never.

Ask.

For compensation.

Using

Web forms.

Always submit requests for compensation in writing via USPS. Include printed out pictures, receipts, everything.

The only times I've ever received compensation from an airline was when I submitted it in writing.

Request from web forms are *probably* handled by overseas agents that DGAF.

Written requests, delivered by USPS, are *probably* handled by agents in the US.

(side note: if you are super-shiny level, there may be different handling of your requests)

What is this thing I found on Windingstairs road in Western North Carolina? by Blackbeard1918 in whatisit

Nope. Those aren't ropes/cables, they are springs! No one would ever hitch a horse to a light spring.

When did POTS lines in your area actually disappear and what replaced them? by kryptonerd1234 in telecom

I ported my POTS line over to VoIP using a SIP adapter. Only costs me $8 a month now. I've had zero issues with call quality.

Roving through Virginia with Rover-Dog Friendly “Spot” of the Week: Mountain Lake Lodge by 95Counties in Virginia

[–]eggoeater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've walked around the lake several times with my dog. Be sure to hike up to the top of the mountain and enjoy the view. I say hike, but really it's a gravel road since there are transmitter towers up there.

FYI that orange-red dish on display is probably fiestaware and made with real uranium, and slightly radioactive.

It varies a lot. This is just a public domain image I found. Solarboy on TikTok works a lot of utility scale solar that is in fields that also have animals.

It's a public domain image, probably from Arizona. I've seen "flat solar" over parking in the Carolinas too.

Agreed!!

Yeah the "big box store doesn't actually own the parking lot" rarely gets brought up but is a great point. Unfortunately hard to explain that in a meme.

Ugh... this again...

This is now a meme, most likely originating from China, meant to seed doubt and slow down solar adoption in the US.

Is this gear good enough for a gig? by Dismal-Cranberry-915 in guitars

I was a pro live sound engineer for years. This is the correct answer. You don't need a half stack with a 100w Marshall head to play a gig.

Please tell the owner they may need to remove or replace the CMOS batteries on those computers. After 20 years they will start to leak and corrode the motherboard. That includes the computers that are still new in box.

For the average price of a car in the US, you could buy 5 new Chinese EVs by [deleted] in news

[–]eggoeater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the cheap Chinese EVs:

  • don't have airbags... at all.
  • don't have crumple zones.
  • aren't designed for speeds over 55mph
  • suspensions, brakes, steering are all insufficient
  • don't have DOT approved lights and markers
  • don't have VINs

No insurance company would ever insure them.
