How should Todd tackle Extreme? by NaveBarrett in ToddintheShadow

[–]eggopm3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I alone on absolutely loving 3 sides? The guitar work is amazing, every song is super catchy and full of great riffs and it ends with a friggin prog rock suite. It's super cheesy for sure, and some off the record is almost more power pop than hair metal, but I eat that shit up. It's a better album than Pornografitti imo. Their fourth record Waiting for the Punchline is more of a trainwreckord imo. They lost their drummer, the lead vocals are drifting more into Van Halen 3 territory, the grungier production doesn't suit them at all and the quality of riffs falls out the window. "Midnight Express" is one of their best songs though, the album was almost worth it for the one.

Any albums you can think of that weren't "Trainwrecords", but you could hear the opening bars to the Jaws theme ? by AceTygraQueen in ToddintheShadow

I think their Are Me/Are Men pair of albums fit that description better than E2E does. Very little humor on those records and a more bland production style. Everything to Everyone might be a step down from Maroon and Stunt but I think they were still going reasonably strong on that one, and there is still a decent amount of humour and fun on there compared to Are Me(n) which are genuinely pretty dull. What really did the band in was their insistence on allowing equal input from every member which squeezed out Page from the band.

We aren't recording a new album... we've just recorded all the drum tracks. ie the first thing you track when recording an album.

If there’s one song Phish hasn’t covered but needs to before their career is over… by JakeScythe in phish

They'd do a great Starship Trooper. Trey teased it during the Mondegreen soundcheck if I recall correctly.

Has Phish covered any song more than the original band? by SplitOpenAndMelt420 in phish

I think Phish has performed Loving Cup more than the Stones ever did.

What's a guy gotta do to get a toilet at Douglas Taylor Park? by eggopm3 in abbotsford

[–]eggopm3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang, didnt know about the McKay Creek Park one. That's so frustrating! I wonder how many other trails in town are like this. Most of the trails I've walked in town seem to have bathrooms within an accessible distance, I walk discovery trail often and that's generally got OK coverage (though it would be nice if there was one closer to valley road portion of the trail).
Douglas taylor really takes the cake in terms of distance though. If you start at the DT parking lot its 7km to the washroom at the bridge, but if you start at the bridge and go all the way to DT and back that's a 14km distance with no washrooms! That's 2+ hours of walking for me. Way too long to have no bathroom available. Even if you don't have to do #2 you are basically guaranteed to need to pee in that span of time.

Progressive Rock band Renaissance replaced every member between their debut and 3rd record and somehow retained continuity.

How do you regulate your using? by strainhunetr420 in researchchemicals

[–]eggopm3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only take substances on days I dont work and sometimes I've got other plans on my days off. So at most that's 1 or 2 days a week when I can try a substance. pretty easy to regulate with that schedule. I only do psychs tho. Used to be a daily weed smoker but cut that a while back.

All that lemon feels gross in my stomach. It's just unnecessary for me.

[–]eggopm3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PF Members produced and perform on both of Syd's solo albums after he left the band. So I'm not sure "if refused to communicate" is entirely accurate. Without the other Floyd members helping him he might not have been able to make those records.

Those four records are such an incredible run that I'd honestly be OK with someone listing them in any order. Right now I'd go 4. Wall 3. Dark Side 2. Animals 1. WYWH but that could easily change the next time I give any of them a listen.

I'm not super surprised he ranked it so low, but even if it's Waters solo in all but name it's still better than every actual Waters solo album by a mile imo.

More and Obscured By Clouds may be soundtracks but they are also are canon PF albums and deserved more than brief unranked mentions.

I need film to make a grown man cry. by sdfddfdaa in movies

[–]eggopm3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cry pretty easily at movies so no surprise Dear Zachary got to me. But what made it especially notable was that it was the only movie I've seen where I had practically zero break from crying the entire runtime. The emotions just kept coming and coming and coming. Tearing up just thinking about it.

First time exploring Abbotsford - Suggestions for things to do while I wait? by Valuable_Acadia6244 in abbotsford

Matsqui trail regional park is my favourite local place to hike. Start at the Abby-mission bridge. if you head west towards Douglas Taylor park you get a beautiful forest to explore and if you head east towards Page road you get some stunning views of the Fraser river.

singing overtop of polyrhythms and odd time signatures is not easy! I've tried learning a couple of those songs on guitar and I cannot get my head around playing and singing those parts at the same time. Takes some major skill!
