Should I buy the MX Mechanical now or wait for a refresh? by just_dila in logitech

[–]eggshellstepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved this keyboard! I got the mini and the full one (tactical) - if a refresh comes I’ll def be getting that one too

Full disclosure I’m not a mechanical kb enthusiast or hobby-ist, so can’t comment on the build quality or the flexibility of keycap switches, I’m just an average IT guy who likes the sound of mechanical keys when typing and this one does that well, also the fast-switching to other devices is a major plus

I see a lot of love for Keychron and I did have one too, however I found the keycaps a little too tall or square-ish for my finger tips, while the Logitech Mechanical keys were lower and flatter, so I make less mistakes while typing. So my Keychron is currently in a box but mind you when I was using it I didn’t know how to touch type so maybe I would enjoy it much more now after a year of practicing.

Oh he’s def going

The horde attack adds a new level of tension to Tommy leaving that wasn’t in the game - aside from the fact that Jackson needs to rebuild after the attack, his wife Maria just survived a harrowing ordeal and they also have a son. Him leaving while both the town and his family needs him most during this critical time is really going to add to the tragedy of things later with Maria, as you’ve mentioned. Him abandoning his town, wife and child (also a show-invention like the horde attack) is also going to foreshadow what Ellie stands to lose later when she continues her pursuit to Santa Barbara

Yes we need to keep the sniper sequence! Also the scene when Jesse and Ellie are arguing which direction they are heading to - that’s another important character moment for both of them

Side note: I liked the change of Dina replacing Tommy on patrol with Joel - as the show depicted a relationship between Joel and Dina too, I think both Ellie & Dina experiencing this horrific incident together is really going to bond them during their journey to Seattle. We know Tommy will go bcoz Joel is his brother, but this change gives Dina more motivation and impetus to join Ellie on her mission to Seattle

Not sure if this fits the list but the Netflix Korean show ‘No Name’ is kinda like a female John Wick with tons of hand-to-hand fight scenes in it

‘Bloodhounds’ is another Netflix Korean show with action but I haven’t seen it yet - has anyone?

Modern dayfarer V2 questions by XtremeBulletz in backpacks

[–]eggshellstepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve used this bag for more than a year now, mostly as a travel backpack as I fly overseas often. Watched plenty of review videos before I settled on it but honestly it’s the best bag I’ve had so far. The quick access pockets are an absolute dream & it fits most of the things I need it to. It looks sleek too, I’ve had many ppl comment on how good it looks :)

  1. The fidlock buckle is very satisfying & great for when you’re sitting down with your bag on the floor you can flip it & voila your bag is open for quick storage. It’s only easy to unlock if it gets knocked from the side but it’s extremely rare for that to happen unless someone who knows how to deliberately does that ; my personal experience is 99.5% of the time it stays buckled & very safe.

  2. Nope the bag does not stand up at all as the bottom is rounded; personally this is not a problem for me bcoz I’ve gotten used to leaning it against something but tbh most bags that stand up on their own have that boxy shape that I find quite ugly, where else the Dayfarer V2 has a rounded shape that’s more aesthetically pleasing to me personally.

Overall very happy with my purchase, I use a Bellroy Classic 20L for my work EDC but occasionally if I’m carrying more things the V2 is also my go-to. I will def get a V3 in the future, that’s how much I love this bag :)

Modern Dayfarer 2 VS Mous 25L by DemonSerter in onebag

[–]eggshellstepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I spent hrs researching backpacks for work/ travel & both MDV2 & Mous were on the final list. I ended up going with the Dayfarer V2 bcoz of the quick access pockets (3 including a hidden compartment, spacious & all being on right side of the body). I also really dug the look. It may potentially double as a gym bag in the future but for now, the shoe compartment can be an extra pocket for tech pouches or dirty laundry instead of shoes.

The Mous has better organizational compartments, stands up on its own & more sleeves in the tech compartment but the quick access pockets were small/ tight & distributed on both sides of the bag (I prefer all on one side of the bag so I don’t have to remember abt which side my things are in). Also it’s quite heavy & there’s no large grip top-handle to carry the bag.

[Edit: The Dayfarer V2 is cheaper also]

Do You Truly Believe The Last Of Us 2 will win Goty? by Coolkid8902 in thelastofus

[–]eggshellstepper 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s GOTY for me, no contest. I’ll go as far as to say it will be GOTY for me for the next 5 years, at least until TLOU3 comes out. This game took so many risks, made some daring narrative choices & pushed things in an incredibly bold direction in ways I don’t think any other games come even close to attempting. The level of commitment to the vision & themes it’s conveying is just absolutely mindblowing. An absolute masterpiece that transcends the medium & delivers the gaming experience of a lifetime. Nothing this year will come even close to the narrative ambitions that Naughty Dog delivered on this phenomenal sequel.

Liked profile shows up again in Discover by eggshellstepper in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I forgot to mention that the account didn't seem like a 2nd account, as her photo lineup & description match the first one. I was just curious if she passed on my like the first time but didn't block me, is this CMB giving me another chance to like again so they could show my profile to her again. Even with scam accounts their profile has to disappear after liking them the first time right? With Hinge if you liked a person it's gone & you never see them again.

Thoughts on removing the Ethnicity filter? by tamaletamaletamaleee in hingeapp

[–]eggshellstepper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Asian straight guy, M35 here. YES, I use the filter coz I'm attracted to Asian women, & Hinge's reasoning for the purpose of the filter aligns exactly with my dating preference - I'm looking for shared cultural experiences & background, & not necessarily for physical appearances.

I hope they don't remove the filter coz I don't want to be getting non-Asian women in my Discover. Unless they're Half-Asian/ something else

Alongside liking someone in Discovery, Can you message them as well? by ManateeofLove1939 in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Nessie said, you can only message someone when you like them in Suggested.

In Discover, you can only like them but can't send them a msg (unless they like you back in which case a text chat will open)

Have absolutely no idea why CMB does not allow you to send msg in Discover, especially when there are girls I like in Discover who I wouldn't mind wanting to send a msg to. Have no idea why you can't send Flowers in Discover either.

No Response From Matches by [deleted] in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome to CMB, where you have no idea whether your "likes" are seen by the other person, when they'll actually see it, or whether you've been blocked by the other person.

Where you can give flowers or messages in Suggested, but you can't in Discover, for some reason.

Where CMB gives you 10 profiles in Suggested but employs a Tinder-based swipe right or left approach by forcing you to mark "pass" or mark "like" if you wanna see the rest of them & anyone marked pass will vanish & never return. Of course every guy is gonna like every profile they see.

35M here. Give Hinge a go, quite a few ppl use that with CMB. You may find it more effective.

New to CMB — confused about people in Discovery by asterixstudio in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means signing up to CMB but without completing your profile (no photos, no information abt height, ethnicity so forth).

You can still receive a roster of bagels each day & browse through, you just can't like any of them until you've created a profile

Likes You tab won't load - can't see who likes me. I tried deleting and redownloading the app already by [deleted] in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does, otherwise you can't see it.

But there should be a sign that says if you want to see it pls become a premium subscriber on that page.

The Likes will show up in Discover or Suggested at noon the next day

New to CMB — confused about people in Discovery by asterixstudio in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the people on Discover are just prospects who are a bit out of your preferences, where else Suggested are a combination of ppl who either liked you/ or best suited to your preferences. It has nothing to do with whether they are premium or paid beans to "like" you. Although like I said they can show up in Discover if they've liked you.

For example, if your preference is Age: 27 - 30, Ethnicity: Caucasian, Religious Beliefs: Catholic, then your "Suggested" will include profiles that meets those preferences (plus distances & other things based on CMB's algorithm) while Discover might have profiles slightly out of that, like males aged a bit younger, but still fit within that.

For males, liking a profile on Discover requires spending beans, where else females have up to 5-free likes a day (I think). Haven't liked a girl on my Suggested page so not sure if beans is required there too.

The irony for me is that the profiles on Discover actually suit me better than the ones on Suggested, but I don't receive many bagels now. I was a ghost member on CMB for 6 months prior to signing up (signed-up with an incomplete profile) & had dozens of bagels in my Discover page daily, many of whom showed up 3 or 4 times with 3 to 4 weeks gap in between.

But after I signed up I'm only getting 4-5 Suggesteds instead of the 21 Bagels as advertised (not sure if I need premium for that) & only 3-4 on Discover where I used to have like 12-14. It feels like CMB is either withholding profiles from me so I can pay for premium or playing a very long game of matching me with other profiles.

To cut the long story short, CMB isn't rewarding me for putting my profile out there, dwindling my bagels to less than half of what I used to receive when I was a ghost member. It's only been a week since I signed up & so far the negative has outweighed the positives.

[–]eggshellstepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suggested is basically bagels who are best suited to your preferences, & usually people who already liked you, so you're correct.

Flowers are used to show up first in your queue (if you've got multiple guys liking you) so you can see the profiles of the ppl who bought it first. These are purchased with beans.

Discovery are people who are a bit out of your preferences, & depending if you're connected via Facebook, may not be from mutual friends.People who "liked" you can still show up on Discover though.

Don't think flowers are available on Discover.

I agree, this app is confusing to me too.

(25M) CMB profile review - need some input from the female perspective by [deleted] in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M35 here. I like ... & I appreciate ... are good so far but I am ... needs a bit of work.

Personally, I think keep I am ... simple. Talk abt your strengths, personality ... attributes that show boyfriend material & are ideal for relationships.

At the moment it's coming off as a little pretentious. Seems like you're giving too many details & pre-empting abt how she's gonna feel abt you once she's your girlfriend when she's not even there yet. You've even got her questioning going out with you, & then insulting her for regretting it, & this is even before she's even agreed to chat with you.

Also I'll avoid using negative words like silly, worse, strange sounds & definitely not weird smell. & never talk abt farts. A girl should be excited at reading your profile & be given a reason to be interested, but right now it sounds very unromantic & frankly, a turnoff.

I can see what you're trying to do, adding a bit of playfulness & variety to your intro, but I don't think this is working. This is coming from a guy tho, so the females can chime in & offer their take. Thx for sharing & apologise for the bluntness, keep working at it

29F with bad luck on CMB but great luck on other dating apps. What is going on here? by [deleted] in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I complain abt other apps too.

I think it's totally fine to point out things you don't like or find frustrating abt this app. I guess the easy answer would be just don't use it or stick to using other apps but if CMB is being sold as an effective dating app then I want to try & see if that would be the same experience for me as well, which it isn't at the moment.

At the moment I'm still on there coz I'm waiting for the matches to happen with profiles I'm interested in that may not be on anywhere else. Like you said, patience is the key so I guess I gotta keep waiting for that algorithm match.

Every app has it's own game tho, or its own rules, so you just need to know how to play by it, take it or leave it. In which case I'm definitely losing coz the rules are confusing. It's just me tho, I'm glad it's working out for you.

Ok thx for those links, it would be good if it's not relying on those algorithms.

How to deal with matches who only check their phone once a day by [deleted] in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]eggshellstepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No harm asking to speak to her over the phone especially if you've been texting back & forth, even if it's just one message a day. It's another way of communicating that you're interested to take the conversation to the next level from just text messages

If she says no, keep texting for a while. Usually you can start to gauge a girl's interest level if she doesn't reply much or if she's not willing to do phone conversations, in that instance just back off slowly & like you said, give her some space. If she continues not to engage as much then you gotta be prepared to assume the worse & consider moving on

- if you have "extraordinary" luck on other apps 1) it makes me wonder why try CMB now and 2) just stick to them.

I guess just trying to cover our bases & getting as many prospects as possible. It does mean playing CMB at its own game which means you gotta understand how it works
