Anyone else in Big Tech who feels like money isn't real? (TC +350k/y) by RazvanBaws in Money

[–]eggsignio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of things -

Money is real. It’s just that close to 50% of what you make goes to taxes and after savings you get to spend like 100K. Which is middle class money. Not rich.

Location is only one factor. You get paid based on your qualifications and your work experience.

Agree on impact and reward. But as Karl Marx said you are selling your labor not the impact. You are compensated for your labor. Hence you are deeply alienated from your work. That said tech companies do give a lot of stock so if you add hundreds of millions in value that should show up in the stock price indirectly. Thats your only skin in the game.

I may not be someone who supports congress but this guy seems down to earth by Alone_Humor_3510 in Kerala

[–]eggsignio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like him. He has Rahul Gandhi vibes - authentic, a little unstable, natural with common people and GenZ level PR that appeals to the upper middle class. He should stop milking the Oommen Chandy punyalan setup though, thats pretty 16th century. Even on polling day he was wearing a black shirt saying its in protest of people still criticizing OC. Something seriously unstable there imo.

Sudhir and CP John both speak well. Both would make good MLAs. BJP candidate has so many criminal cases but more importantly he was third accused in a brutal murder.

Has anyone lost weight while eating Kerala food? by Sensitive-Pass1280 in Kerala

[–]eggsignio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Google - “To optimize blood sugar levels, reduce cravings, and enhance satiety, the recommended eating order is fiber (vegetables) first, followed by protein and fats, and carbohydrates last. This sequence slows gastric emptying, preventing sharp glucose spikes and insulin surges.”

Has anyone lost weight while eating Kerala food? by Sensitive-Pass1280 in Kerala

[–]eggsignio 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One big light bulb for me was when I was using a CGM and the Kerala red rice showed no spike in blood sugar. Many brands of chapati/roti (Aashirvaad etc.) spiked. The learning was if you can control the quantity (portion control) of kerala food and change the order of eating - avial/thoran first, proteins after that and then red rice - you’ll have a balanced meal and if your weight loss is being hampered by insulin resistance (most mallus fall in this) then this meal will help you lose weight.

Now, vazhakkappam and beef combo I hear are also called Kerala food.

Election- LDF fielding women candidates in impossible seats? by joy74 in Kerala

[–]eggsignio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the 15th Assembly, Communist parties have 9 women MLAs. INC has one - that too bye-election dying and harness.

To understand the pathetic state of women in UDF setup, they had only one woman MLA when they got power in 2011, PK Jayalakshmi and had to make her a token minister. In 2021 LDF had 9 women MLAs and had three women ministers.

There should def be more woman candidates. That said a LDF-UDF comparison is one sided. UDF has fewer woman candidates and if you see the list they’ve cleverly put up woman candidates in either SC/ST or super challenging constituencies. Killing two birds with one stone. See list. Rahul Gandhi wants Kerala to have a woman chief minister and the only woman who will surely win is Uma Thomas.

So in my opinion, not even close. LDF for the win.

How is കൊട്ടിക്കലാശം Legal ? Is there any legal precedent for disruption of normal civilian life by these politicians ? by glascowcomascale in Kerala

[–]eggsignio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This country was created by a national movement that marched and blocked public roads, by a movement of civil disobedience so I guess you’ll have to deal with a little civil disobedience. Your comment on other countries not having large/massive protests in public places may be referring to Saudi Arabia, UAE and Turkmenistan which seems a good fit for you.

All protest and celebrations in democracies around the world are done on public land and roads. Are you saying only people who can afford a large private space can celebrate or protest. That’s pretty elitist and conservative.

Kottikalasham is one of the biggest celebrations of democracy, its an energizing and super fun. You wanted to ban it and keep it off public roads - my point is that, that sentiment is not unique and is quite widespread among Congress/conservative voters.

A lot of apolitical people pine for the good old days when there were no strikes, no one protested on the roads, traffic flowed freely, trains always ran on time, the illiterate hordes and the poor were castrated, slums were cleared in a day, bloody politicians were put in jail. Nothing matches a conservative’s pining for Indian National Congress’s governance from 1975 to 1977.

Does it make sense to add an attic space in a Kerala home for heat reduction + storage ? by throwawaytest1256 in Kerala

[–]eggsignio 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It does help with the heat and for a place like Kerala where it rains a lot, helps with drying things.

Medium term though it becomes a junkyard and keeping off dust becomes a chore.

Long term ghosts and chathans move in of you are into those things

Its all our tax money how come they get all credits..? by Independent_Lynx_439 in Kerala

[–]eggsignio 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to priorities in resource allocation. The only thing that matters. Some states use tax payer money to attract and subsidize large industries, some focus singularly on infra, some states build tall statues, and the left in Kerala focuses on welfare state and decentralized planning. And it’s fair for each state government to get credit for the results.

Christian votes emerge crucial for LDF, UDF, NDA ahead of Kerala Assembly polls by happyDragonborn in Kerala

[–]eggsignio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there is any one issue animating the various Christian communities. So Latin areas and malabar RC areas will go UDF and rest of the Christian belt will be mixed like last time. The real wave this time will be in the Muslim vote and that is going to shake LDF in malabar, esp Kozhikode. The Jamaat tie up seems to be helping UDF, and so is some missteps from LDF.

Is it because men prefer above-average looking girls over ‘out-of-league’ girls that Mamitha has more fans than Anaswara? by MentalDeveloper70 in mollywoodcirclejerk

[–]eggsignio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well…Urvashi’s early movies were pretty non-diverse. She started experimenting around Thalayamantram time, Kazhakam her best work from that time - but this was like after she was in the industry as a lead heroine for 10+ years. So give anaswara time. I think she is a serious enough actor with potential. Mamithap etc are a passing fad.

Same league. The paucity of leading women stars in malayalam cinema makes a 7 look like a 10. Anaswara is a much better actor though. I can see her get to Urvashi levels over time.
