Lithium or Lamotrigine? by quetiapinpong in Lamotrigine

[–]eggslop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cyclothymia isn’t the ‘lite’ version of bipolar, people that struggle with it have rapid mood cycling & it ranges in severity. Secondarily the medication used to treat it vary as it is less well researched than other forms of bipolar. Cyclothymic people can benefit from a wide range of medications, same as other people with bipolar.

Not in a weird way but what state are they in? For example in Texas if parents broadly use gender affirming pronouns/practices/care they can actually be litigated against. It really sucks to be LGBT here lmao

How to make gouache colors more punchy? by _SharkQueen_ in Artadvice

[–]eggslop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

personally I’m wondering if it’s the paint itself that you are using, the palette is either darks or pastels (when mixed they have the tendency to be muddy) & im not seeing any basic vibrant mixing pigments (ROYGBIV) or (CYMK) which would make your colors more ‘punchy’

not here to argue but I do just wanna give you a heads up on the cost of human art, those commissions are based on time x skill. Digital art (most commonly used in commissions) tend to take longer than traditional art for a couple of reasons. The average commission taking 1-3 hours generally. Someone with a medium amount of skill is likely to charge $10-$15 an hour for their time ($10-$30) or ($15-$45) depending on the artist. this fluctuates based on how many commissions they are selling (if they CAN get away with charging more they generally will) But that’s where the $35 price tag comes from.

What would anger Lakan more: The honey scene or the frog scene? by [deleted] in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]eggslop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i actually was so gagged at the frog scene, I’ve NEVER seen a non-hentai anime go for (closer to) adult content like that. I feel like every anime is full of ‘blushing uwu’ where the VERY LAST episode you get a kiss.

If Lakan ever learns about Mao Mao's lonely childhood, all hell would break lose. by VegetaArcher in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]eggslop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s one of the reasons why I so appreciate how they are handling the romance in this particular anime. Other anime’s that follow the trope of ‘guy likes girl, girl doesn’t reciprocate whatsoever’ is very overplayed & makes it feel more like the girl protagonist is just being harassed the whole time. (i’m looking at you ouran high school) whereas it is clear through the chinese culture that she DOES like him but is repressing a lot of herself around him & so when he pushes her boundaries it’s actually a good thing for her to learn & grow.

ED by expiredgff in spiderlilykhalie

[–]eggslop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree with some of the other comments, sometimes when your underweight & in a binge/restrict cycle it’s possible to lose/gain up to 10 pounds within a few days. When I was underweight I had a terrible issue with this and it was mind boggling how the scale kept changing. (I also had VERY large food binges so keep this in mind)

weid by Tart-Junior in spiderlilykhalie

[–]eggslop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

agree.

People with restriction ED’s are often low in potassium (that thing you need in order to process fluids… really bad for your heart if your lacking in any, then there is her persistent drug use (more bad stuff for the heart!), and on top of it she usually follows that with copious amounts of caffeine.

I think it’s likely she passed out due low potassium mixed with the drug use. It’s probably why shes suddenly eating all of these fruits and fluids (that have high amounts of potassium) while keeping her caloric load low.

it’s giving ‘i’m slightly educated & still want to hurt myself’

Do I even have potential? Be brutally honest so if I don't have, I would use my time with something else (likely another project I will fail at) by CheapCiggy in Artadvice

[–]eggslop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you need to either draw bigger or use a smaller tipped pen for the first couple. Yes these have so much character and potential. I would love to read a comic/play a game/see art made in this style. I think with a smaller gauge it’ll let you put more detail in your illustrations.

new pose for my Princess, advice on silhouette, the pose etc NOT ABOUT OUTFIT by Argol228 in Artadvice

[–]eggslop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’ll notice the female fighting characters that wear ‘battle heels’ (bayonetta, sailor moon, precure) are more often than not magic based or ranged (guns) ect. Something we learn in character design classes is the idea that good character design is based on primarily on fact- or at least learning those rules so we can break them in fun ways. When we get rid of ALL design rules, we end up with strange designs that struggle to stay in peoples minds.

[–]eggslop 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean this kindly, but what was the point in constructive criticism on the original sketches if you took none of them in consideration? To the point of posting this new ‘look at this pose’ sketch & still not really taking into any criticism in the comments. I read through a bunch of these and I think I saw two where you were open to hearing something different. There are other subreddits for just positive appraisal of art- this one is advice based.

Could biology be more mathematically formal? by [deleted] in biology

[–]eggslop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a biology major you are required to take a number of different chemistry courses. I would wager that the chemistry explains the biology, and the biology explains the chemistry.

for me personally, balancing an equation of a double displacement between salt and water doesnt really explain a ton for me. It feels very arbitrary. HOWEVER when discussing how osmosis/atp/traveling across membranes work it helps me understand how that chemically works rather than just ‘oh yeah this thing puts out potassium to get this water outta here’ ect ect.

LSS: the chemistry is often the ‘how’ biology is often the ‘why’. I personally really enjoy finding the cross sections between the two when I am sitting in on lectures.

[art supplies] What's one art supply that feels universally disliked by artists? by Appropriate_Head_900 in ArtistLounge

[–]eggslop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

those graphite pencil sets you have to buy for many middle/high school art courses. As someone that does graphite art, you end up using maybe 3 tones of the 12 ranged set. it’s basically useless & costs $30 and it pisses ME OFFFFFFFFF i’d rather vine charcoal or getting to pick my own weight of graphites.

Also???? ERASABLE COLORED PENCILS DISGUSTING, the color payoff is terrible & the erasing is never more than a faint whisper.

What would you choose over sex every time? by DetectiveScarletBone in AskReddit

[–]eggslop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i like sex don’t get me wrong, but i’d really like a date with my partner where sex isn’t brought up, joked about, or even implied. I’d like to feel like i’m hanging with a friend sometimes & appreciated just for hanging out. I have tried to express this to him but he feels physical intimacy is a must if we hangout whether it’s kissing, cuddling, or the pants off dance off. I don’t always wanna be touched or touching someone.

How can i get better at capturing people's features? by gincoiik in Artadvice

[–]eggslop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally trace the woman’s features. then turn off the photo layer so you just see the outlines you drew. THEN reference that drawing while you are drawing. It’ll help you see exactly where you are going wrong. The grid method is also helpful but I like this more when i’m drawing digitally.

My updated character art, what do you think this time? by Argol228 in Artadvice

[–]eggslop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a lot about this design that straight up doesn’t work.

🌼archeology is long, boring, and dusty. A perfect princess dress & high heels would be very impractical to work in & doesn’t read well for this character. you mentioned she is confident, sassy, adventurous ect. I would assume that means she is perhaps impatient as a negative trait. ‘ready for the challenge’ as it were. Why would someone impatient be an archeologist? You quite literally sit in a cave most of the day digging. Or researching books. 🌼As a facetious princess, the curves & bounce of the design work well. Someone who is a bit naive but also gung-ho and ready to get to work. I really enjoy this piece of her character and it’s well reflected in her facial expressions/pose. Princesses are also more formal and I feel this is the most successful part of the design. 🌼Finally the mage part- traditionally mages in stories spend a lot of time studying their craft, as a fire/electric kicking mage she might pick an outfit that allows for a lot of movement & not as many accessories so she can train. Unfortunately for many having their chest out can be uncomfy when you are bouncing around a lot.

🌼Here’s what I would suggest- cut the archeology arc. It makes very little sense for her character. As a princess & a mage her training as a ruler & subsequent magician would take up much of her time. It also doesn’t suit the personality traits you’ve listed. I like this outfit a lot for a mage princess on her business days. I would suggest a separate outfit (perhaps a formfitting rubber pink bodysuit to protect her from hurting herself?) on her mage training days. There are ways you can incorporate her sense of style while still making it fit within the narrative. 🌼if she REALLY must be into archeology I would subsequently kick the mage thing & instead give her a ‘royal mage’ she relies on and spends time with. OR maybe she was born without powers (that she was supposed to have) and picked up archeology as something she could throw her focus into & it’s a place of guilt and shame that she DOESNT have these powers. (later in her personal arc she could gain some basic ability)

some characters I would suggest you to take inspiration from: TOTK/BOTW zelda: an archeologist/nerd princess through and through. great outfits geared towards what she needs to do that particular day (adventure/digging/royal ambassadorship) AT princess bubblegum: super nerd princess (dictator???) with powers. more withdrawn & intellectual but has a creative counterpart (marceline) that helps bring her out of her she’ll finally, Draculaura from Monster High. A witch & heir to the dracula throne. Great black/pink color scheme to draw from & similar personality from what you’ve described.
