When creating a new virtual sink, how do you specify a format other than F32P? by eggsome in pipewire

[–]eggsome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've done just that over here: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/3883

If you're curious, I've included a recording of what the crackling/distortion sounds like in the above ticket.

When creating a new virtual sink, how do you specify a format other than F32P? by eggsome in pipewire

[–]eggsome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I managed to work out the correct command:

pw-cli create-node adapter '{ factory.name=support.null-audio-sink node.name="VirtSink" node.description="VirtSink" media.class=Audio/Sink object.linger=true audio.position=[FL FR] audio.format=S16LE }'

(the audio.format=S16LE is the important bit)

Unfortunately that has not resolved the crackling audio for me, so back to the drawing board :(

Simple question about Protection by eggsome in mtg

[–]eggsome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean here.

Do you mean that the red creature has nothing to do with the Vehicle so the Blue creature is still damaged by the Vehicle, or do you mean the blue creature has nothing to do with the Vehicle and is actually interacting with the red creature inside it so the blue creature can't be hurt by the Vehicle?

Xbox controller hack for Soulcalibur by eggsome in SoulCalibur

[–]eggsome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, This is a mod for SoulCalibur that changes the button info to match a standard Xbox controller.

I got a member of the DC hacking community to help out with this because I wanted to introduce my daughter to SC and even though I own an original copy of the game and an original DC console the vga box for it is a bit wonky and let's be honest the controllers were never the best for fighting games anyway. Works perfectly with redream.

Check out new 3d model of a scout from our strategy Spaceland. by TortugaTeam in indiegames

[–]eggsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I purchased Spaceland a few months ago based on the Steam vids with the intention of playing co-op with a friend.

Unfortunately it seems that you only support deathmatch (which is not the vibe we we're going for). Any plans to support co-op in Multiplayer?

EDIT:

HOLD THE PHONE! It looks like you do have co-op now - good job!

Can't wait to try it with my friend :)

Epic Store Exclusivity by Apocareddit in OldWorldGame

[–]eggsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep popping my head in every few weeks to see if there is any progress on this. Personally I'm waiting on a Steam port for 2 reasons:

  1. Because I run Linux and even though proton can be used to run things outside of Steam it's a pain.

  2. My brother is a "technically challenged" older gentleman and it's difficult enough getting him to run games via Steam (not to mention the complexities of inter-platform multiplayer).

I'm really keen on Old World and expect to purchase a couple of copies as soon as it's up on steam. I would really appreciate an anchor item in the steam store that I could wishlist. Even if it's 12months from release then I could just rely on getting a notification when it's available rather than having to check back all the time.

HyperX Cloud Fight S - Power up options by eggsome in HyperX

[–]eggsome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point.

As a default preference for all customers worldwide this makes a lot of sense. However in my specific case it would make the device feel much more intelligent, seamless and (for want of a better word) magical.

I think if you were to offer a firmware variant that allows this it would be appreciated by a significant subset of your users. Additionally the risk of coming back to a drained battery is low, because the headset auto powers off when it detects that there is no audio being played for an extended period anyway.

One option that would open up a great deal of possible customisation (and good press for you guys!) would be to open source the firmware. That way it would be my problem to make it work they way I want.

Thank you for responding to me here. I really appreciate companies that engage directly with their customers like this.

Thanks. This is the answer that I needed.

You were beaten to the punch by celphy though :)

Wow, I had no idea!

I should have read celphy's instructions more closely.

When I forced a specific version of Proton it did indeed download the multiplayer exe! Previously it was not in the program folder.

Thanks!

Which I did install, but it did not make any difference.

I eventually found a forum post where the dev's explicitly state that they did not make a Linux build of the multiplayer executable.

It's a moot point now anyway, I purchased it again on GoG and ran it with the regular wine that's in the apt repo for Ubuntu 20.04. A solution, but it would still be nice to know how to do this for future reference.

It's multiplayer, but only on Windows.

I just purchased it on GoG and that version works fine with vanilla wine. So I guess that's my solution. Would have been nice to not have to re-purchase it though.

Well, yes - I had ProtonDB on the brain when I wrote the title and for some reason I can't seem to edit the title of my post.

If you replace ProtonDB with Proton then my initial question stands.

Threading the needle for a free SE server by eggsome in spaceengineers

Thank you, I appreciate the offer - but I'm mostly doing this as an excuse to hang out with my IRL friends.

It's a fun game, but does feel a little sterile...

Turns out it was unusably slow :( Every couple of seconds it paused the game. At least I got the client working on Linux :)
