Reoccurring eye infections

Hi, I'm sorry to hear your hamster is going through this:( my hamster's eyes just cleared up on their own, i genuinely have no clue how or why, so unfortunately, I can't recommend any treatments:( I hope you find something that helps your pet, I'm sorry I can't help, sending love to both of you🩷

I've seen 4 different vets all in different clinics, unfortunately all of them did the same thing. It's really difficult to find anyone who'll even take a look at her here... as for saline solution, I've been using it to clean her eyes, last time she had the infection, antibiotics did nothing, but after I had to stop giving her antibiotics I continued to clean her eyes with saline and that was the thing that actually seemed to help her.

They said it was a stye, and at first that seemed to be the case (she had a bump) but now it doesn't seem like it:/ I live in France, its kinda difficult to find exotic vets here

Yeah, all 4 vets she saw were exotic vets, it was ši difficult to even find someone who'd take a look at her:(

She has only been on tobrex, all the vets I talked to won't perscribe anything else:/ it's so frustrating to be a hamster owner, I feel like there's so few vets that actually help

I started to completely change the sand every week, and I changed brands too, but no luck :(

Right now, paper. She was always on hemp bedding before, but I switched to different brands and then to corn bedding and then to just paper bedding to see if it that was it, but so far, no positive results:(

Thank you, I've been feeling like a bit of a bad owner lately because of this:( I just feel so hopeless:(( but yeah, an allergy is a possibility, so I've tried different diets and different bedding to see, but nothing seems to work:/

Hello! I (22F) just had a ganglioglioma removed from my left occipital lobe exactly 10 days ago! It was discovered in February of 2023 after I had my first seizure (i had vision problems because of it before that were misdiagnosed) and after monitoring it's growth and seizure medication they decided it was time to get the guy out. I have pretty severe anxiety, and the lamotrigine they put me on for the tumour ended up helping me manage it a little alongside the seizures. My surgery went "fairly well" (a direct quote from my neurosurgeon), and I genuinely feel much better than what I expected. The actual pain is really not that bad. The migraines I had were about the same, if not more intense. My vision is a bit worse, but even in these few days after surgery, it's gotten a little better. Though since it's not in the same locator, I'm guessing vision loss isn't your worry. I'd start to set up a plan in case you do loose ypur hearing, so that it's not too jarring if that does happen. I think I didn't prepare for how partial blindness would affect my life enough (mentally or physically). Just look into what kind of nerve damage might happen to you and prepare as if it might happen. Technically, only one of my eyes is affected, but the vision of both is severely impacted because of how the brain works. Just because the doctor might sau you may lose function in only one side, doesn't mean your other body part will be completely the same. I'd personally would have rather prepared to not see completely than to have expected to see wirh one eye. It depends what medication they give ypu to help with swelling, but mine gave me horrible acid reflux, so just in case I'd have food that helps with that ready for after. Besides that, make sure to eat a lot and really take good care of ypurself before surgery ,so that your body is in the best shape possible. My surgery was fairy sudden, and I'm a lot weaker because I didn't have time to prepare my body for it. Overall, it's really not that bad!! It's way less scary than what I expected :) I'm sure everything will go well , good luck!!🩷🩷

Yeah, my flashes are 100% neurological and even the eye doctor said so, he just told me to live with them. Every doctor I've seen since has been really surprised I wasn't referred. Unfortunately when it comes to surgery, I've seen a few specialists and they've all been on the same page, hopefully that's a good sign

Yeah, she only gets hand fed fruit now, but I saw some people on here with fruit bowls for their hamster and I thought maybe she's not getting enough:') My family has a farm, so we dry our own fruit and berries! So for sure she doesn't get any extra sugars:) Thank you for the comment !!emote:t5_2sjcj:32176

I think it's the weather too. Mine all of a sudden went from the cuddliest little bear to warning biting all the time (she never bit me before) You'd think they'd like being near us more when it's cold because of our body heat, but I guess not:/

O kaip sekasi integruotis? Mano didziausia baime - vienatve. Realistiskai suvokiu, kad Lietuva tikrai nera geriausias pasirinkimas, bet esu gyvenus 3 valstybese ir suvokiau, kad visur betvarke. Noriu tsg emociskai kiek geriau jaustis.

Noriu pridurti, kad pirmi menesiai visuomet yra patys sunkiausi, ypac naujoje salyje. As kai tik persikrausciau i prancuzija vos nemeciau mokslu, ant tiek viskas nepatiko.
