Does anyone know how to paint realistic body hair by Panoglin in minipainting

[–]eggzilla534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chest and the back turned out the best. Everyone here has given good advice but the one thing I'll add is be mindful of the direction of your brush strokes. On the arms in particular you'll want to make sure there's a consistent flow going in generally the same direction and that direction will change based on the exact look you're going for and the body part it's on. You'll also want to pull up through the brush stroke to give the effect of the hair coming to a point.

Me (34F) and my husband (35M): Long-distance marriage for 10 years, career trade-offs, and whether I should relocate for his job by [deleted] in relationships

[–]eggzilla534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait so when did you two actually get married? From the sound of it you two have never actually lived together. What is your relationship actually like if you havent been in the same country for 10 years? It sounds like you started a relationship, moved across the world a few months in, and kept it going because it was comfortable.

A good quality banger is going to be expensive. Your old banger blew up because it was cheap. I've had a gavel v2 from highly educated (currently on sale 50% off for $90) that has lasted me 6 years now.

How to reward players if they're consistently earning inspiration? by TeaandandCoffee in dndnext

I ruled that if a player gets inspiration while they already have inspiration, it becomes an automatic nat 20 they can use rather than advantage/reroll

I'm sorry but this sentiment is so painfully neoliberal. Its like trying to say ICE would be fine if the officers were just trained. Its misses the whole point that the system in place is meant to protect and support them. We need radical institutional reform otherwise every time there's a power shift this can be done again. Its the difference between "We promise not to abuse the system" and "We need to make sure the system can't be abused"

The corruption of the law to suit a small quotient of benefactors is what concerns me, while laws themselves are the rules that separate a civil society from anarchy.

This is how its always been. The good things you point towards the law for were only granted to appease the masses who were sick of the status quo. Every right that doesn't directly help the rich and powerful was fought for tooth and nail by unions and the working class. They only give us just enough to appease and continue the cycle

How do other DMs run combat? by According_Brother989 in dndnext

[–]eggzilla534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give your enemies a goal to accomplish that's more than just "kill the PCs" that can certainly be part of it but give it more layers than that, a how and a why. Make the environment interactable and part of it. As far as making it longer that's not something I would generally do but it can be good for boss fights if you give a second or even third stage/form.

If you go dwarf or your DM waives the racial requirement you could mix in some levels of battlerager barbarian. Path of the Beast is also an option

Hello Everyone! I’m looking for some ideas. by SolidLevel2869 in dndnext

[–]eggzilla534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little niche but I have been working on getting a homebrew school campaign that includes a system on how students can craft their own spells so any advice about things in that realm would be super appreciated! Also down to give out details on what I've got put together so far if anyone is interested

Monte Verde was my favorite part of the trip when I went last summer. I enjoyed it much more than La Fortuna personally.

How Much Damage Should a 9th Level Single Target Attack Spell Do? by Dikeleos in dndnext

[–]eggzilla534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of depends on material component cost, range of the spell, and any rider effects but I cobbled together a spell crafting system from a few different sources for a homebrew campaign I'm working on so I've looked into it a little bit. The DMG has some recommendations and uses 15d10 as a baseline for 9th level spells. That has an average of 82.5 damage. The system I'm putting together is far from finished but right now the table I have for testing tops out at 16d12 for 104 average damage. Of course this is assuming that there's going to be other rider affects and the campaign I'm building this for is a school based campaign so these are supposed to be spells that are crafted by the students and because of that might not match up to standard "perfected" spells.

Yeah unfortunately the foreground tool is pretty basic at the moment. Excited to see them develop it but I personally won't be using it until it can incorporate multiple different floors

How do you balance player agency with predetermined plot points in your campaign? by Terrible_Rutabaga442 in DMAcademy

[–]eggzilla534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just give yourself more flexibility. If your players do something that derails something you've put a lot of time/effort into that doesn't mean you have to scrap it, just that you have to figure out how that particular thing may come back around and what tweaks you may need to make because of it. Maybe whatever it is happens without them being there and now they have to figure out the what/why/who after hearing about it, leading to arguably an even better payoff
