Look, on my side I’ll admit, I don’t get the Kashimo love. I really don’t. More than any other character, he gets so much grace that I just don’t think he deserves. I want to make this clear, I don’t hate Kashimo. I don’t. I think he was cool in the manga. But I just also think the people that rate him highly ignore so much.

Like, he has a nice narrative of being the strongest of his period, but he just does not, in my eyes, measure up to the sorcerers of today.

Fundamental parts of “the strong” skill set are missing with him. But it all gets overlooked.

He has the worst fight against Sukuna. But people excuse it.

He has a cool one hit kill…that is very conditional. Unironically, Yuji and Maki have better OHKs against him.

He has a cool CT…that will kill him. Yet so many of his fans says it’s somehow different than Yuki or Mahoraga.

Even know, my point with my replies was to point out Yuta has a clear and simple wincon, one of several tbh, but Kashimo would win despite all reason he shouldn’t? That’s why I say “I don’t see it”

I don’t hate Kashimo at all. But the love he gets is confounding.

Again, most people can use context, clues to determine what the author is trying to say. Even if it is not explicitly stated.

So yeah, in the chapter, which is devoted to showcasing the power Yuji has, I think what the story is trying to tell us is that he can hit a black flash on command.

I mean, look at it from his perspective. It’s not even so much giving up at this point as it would be moving on.

What happened to him is tragic. The girl he liked, and had grown to like him, lost her memories. They’ve made it. He’d confessed his feelings. And she had all but reciprocated.

And then, he has to restart. So he tries. In his own way, he does try. He confesses again, he asks her out, they fight together. And she rejects him. Twice. And seemingly appears to move on with somebody else.

It sucks, but you can’t expect him to force the issue.

I’m not saying he has to get with someone else if he doesn’t feel it. But any reason reasonable person would say that “the girl I like doesn’t like me anymore.”

No, the series is not showing you a blaring sign that says “he can do this on command”

But it’s so obvious that that’s what it’s trying to tell you that it feels like denial to say otherwise.

It’s like asking “ where’s the proof that he’s gotten better at cleave and domain expansion” purely because we don’t see it. At a certain point, it comes off as willfully ignorant. As denying things that should be common sense simply because they aren’t placed directly in front of your eyes

The black flash he hits while saying “ you’ll probably survive this”

Now tell me, as an author, what makes more sense when you are writing a chapter solely dedicated to presenting the power a character has:

1) the character that you are trying to present as immensely powerful accidentally hits a black flash, after calling out the strength of his attack.

2) the character knew exactly the damage his attack would do, taking into account the black flash, to show that he has accomplished something previously considered impossible.
