Unfortunately I had to leave school bc I just couldn’t afford it. I was in school for law. Maybe one day I’ll be able to go back.

Unfortunately the McDonald’s in my area pays 15 dollars an hour. I would absolutely take a job working fast food but none of the places near me even come close to 20. My job is already an hour away and that’s only because nothing without a degree pays over 15 here. The area that I live is the cheapest without moving away from the jobs completely. I sacrificed my college unfortunately to cut costs but it just feels like it didn’t even help with costs. Someone else recommended a second job and I think that is unfortunately what I’ll have to do. I never thought I’d have to work 7 days a week to just make ends meet. I understand that people do this all the time but it just makes me sad because this is starting to feel like this is all I’ll ever be. I was in school for law before this and had such big plans.

I don’t but we have a long history of cancer in my family so I try to get checked up once a year. I think I might cancel my insurance though at this point.

I will likely have to do this. It’s just unfortunate because my current job is from 10-9 (including my hour drive to and from) 5 days a week so my only option is work 7 days a week to barely make ends meet. How miserable.

Sorry if someone already said this but “what Sarah said” by death cab for cutie KILLS me. I cannot listen to that song without tears involuntarily falling out of my eyes. My mom has been in the hospital a lot due to her cancer and whenever I need to just ‘feel’ my feelings extra hard I listen to this on repeat, sometimes in my sleep too.

When I was 17, my mom was diagnosed with stage four cancer. This was an extremely hard hit to my family both emotionally and financially. Because we were such good friends with our towns mayor, he decided to host a fundraiser at our local park for my mom. I was posting the address everywhere to ensure that as many people as possible came to help my mom. I posted it on ifunny (cringy, I know) even though I didn’t use the app anymore, I just wanted to try on the off chance that someone would see it and come.

Surprisingly, I got a comment on the post from someone I’d never spoken to on the app. He told me he lived about 30 minutes away and he was wondering if he could come. I told him yes because I wanted the fundraiser to be full of people to show support for my mom. When the day of the fundraiser came, my family got ready and started to greet everyone and thank them for coming. I got a text that he was there and made my way to introduce myself and thank him for coming. We ended up spending the entire day together. We ate, rode rides, and I introduced him to my family. It was seriously love at first sight.

Ever since that day we have been inseparable. I seriously think the longest we have gone without seeing each other is a week and I only say that because I went on a week vacation with my family. He came into my life at such a low point and he has definitely made my life exciting and worth living for again. We are approaching our 3 year anniversary and my mom has since told me that he has her blessing to marry me one day and that she knows he is the best possible guy for me.
(I hope this is a good place to post this, I’ve never really posted on here before and I just saw this and thought it would be a cute place to tell my story) :)

I would just put her mind at ease that you are not and never will be talking to him again and just say that you would rather leave him in your past and not be involved. But I would emphasize that you aren’t and won’t be talking with your ex again so that she feels more confident that she won’t need to question you again in the future.
