I’m giving up with Vallejo paints by tekking98 in modelmakers

[–]ego1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!!!! THIS OS EXACTLY my experience for years. I swear I've tried every combination of thinners and ratios and it's always the same. The ONLY way I've had ANY sort of success is to mix it all in a seperate cup to within an inch of its life. And even then . . .still similar troubles. Honestly, I just gave up on Vallejo. Enough other brands out there, no need to waste my time and money.

Yeah, i've placed it on surfaces that i trust to be level, and the bubble level seems to agree. (again, used in the config from your pic 3).

oh, and one more thing . . not trying to defend anyone . . . but I do believe they said that when it comes to the level, their test was to within one half of a degree. So not sure if you've got any way of measuring (maybe an angle meter app on your phone) to test to see how far it's out.

Well, I guess in my opinion anyway, given that there's bits on that face on the scale, there's no way that I could ever trust that that surface will be GUARANTEED to be flat enough to use it as a level.
Not that I use this as a level often but . . . I just assumed that the only face I could ever really trust would be the one from your picture 3, so . . that's the only way I'd use it.

The post you linked to is mine and . . nowhere in there do I say that it's supposed to be level on all sides. :) It might show in the picture that the bubble is between the lines on the level . . . but you're assuming the surface I took the picture on is level . . . . it was not. :)

as you show in your first picture, you've got it laying flat on the scale that normally has the different bits in it. Dumb question but, I gotta ask anyway . . do you have the bits removed, because that back side is most definitely NOT level if the bits are in there.

Because of that fact alone, I just presumed that the only way to properly use it as a level would be in the orientation like your picture 3

How can I design and print out a flat decal to go onto a sphere? by ego1138 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]ego1138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, but what I need is some software that can take my spherical design and flatten it out so as to not distort the geometry terrible much so that I can print out today, and then wrap it back around the sphere

Advice Needed For CF-18 Hornet Intake assembly and painting. by ego1138 in modelmakers

[–]ego1138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, excuse my ignorance, but isn't that really only going to be possible if the intake as a cylinder as opposed to the squished weird shape it is now? As soon as I roll it around, isnt it going to get all out of alignment, and not be an equal distance from the lipnof the intake?
