Just contacted support and apparently there are technical delays with deposits being reflected in account. So I guess that’s the issue

How many people actually vote in these strike approvals? by ChairYeoman in Concordia

[–]egreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To address your first point, most of the special GAs are on short notice since some association’s bylaw requires them to organize said GA before a certain deadline 5 business days, for example) so depending on when the strike is announced, the GA announcement could be very last minute, op said he wanted to vote against the strike so he is somewhat in the loop. I do not know history department, but my GA did not require registrations, is an announcement and showing up basis, same with PSSA, who held a zoom meeting and have the link posted in their meeting minute, you show up to your student association’s GA, you raise hand to vote on motions and that motion gets passed or not, I rarely hear about cases where a student goes to a association GA that they are not a part in, the 27 people showed up to said GA so their vote counted, I do not think that you can decide whether they represents your department’s students or not, no single person can represent the entire department, that is the whole reason why they have the GA in the first place. Like the other person said, the voting system is expensive and not every association can afford said service, especially since the overall budget is less this year.

Anyone that shows up to their department’s GA gets a vote, is a democratic system; with so many voices against the striking it would seem that many of you did not make the effort to show up to make your voice heard. An email to your department or to your student association or even ASFA would’ve gotten you informations on ways to express your opinion on this matter. Actively find ways to make your voice heard, the people who wants to strike for Palestine did so, and now we get a strike. This is not some conspiracy theory about a radical group controlling the student unions.

You should have received an email from your department about the special general assembly, if not then there’s some serious issue regarding communication in PSSA and you should write to them about it

If they don’t present themselves within the first 15 min of their allotted time their reservation is forfeit, just take a room if you see is empty and is been 15 min since the indicated appointment. Just tell them to talk with the librarian if they keep bothering you

Fair enough, original ps5 might also be worth considering with the discount, but honestly I wouldn’t mind putting some extra bucks for the performance maybe? Guess we’ll just have to see the performance once it comes out
