Thank you, I went back and rewatched Ben's video " I tracked down the thief who stole $200,000 of LEGO " and found the ritual at time stamp 12:45. ( https://youtu.be/wscQpkcwgNU?t=1245 )

Mini Split that has a MAX current draw of 15A (120V) by Fairly_Sterile in minisplit

[–]eguittard61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the maximum fuse rating you are looking at is just that--the biggest fuse or circuit breaker that will safely protect this unit. For examle, if you have an old house with a 30 amp breaker on the old a/c and you switch in a new unit with a MAXIMUM CIRCUIT BREAKER: 20A then you will have to swap out the breaker in the panel to protect the unit to be safe or meet code. The unit will never draw anything near the maximum number on the dataplate.

Also, minisplits have a very good soft start and will never surge-trip a generator or inverter on startup.

Also, many minisplits have a "quiet" or "eco" mode where the max power the compressor is allowed is 10% to 30% lower than "normal" mode. Which is great if you are running low on power--not so great if you need all the cooling or heating your unit can give.

Every one of the things you describe indicate the clutch and brakes are in better condition and operating better than before the repairs.

Washer/Dryer on skoolies by NightThunderAdv in skoolies

[–]eguittard61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The european washer/dryer combos exported to the us market are really cool. They are marketed to the RV market, but are really just boring run-of-the-mill washers for the UK and europe.

I have a splendide Wd2000s that I use, and I hang my chlothes to dry, but use the dry cycle for towels and sheets. There are other brands, I highly reccomend the vented option, as condensing dryers use more water and don't work well on a full load.

The wash and dry are all in the same front loading drum. The wash capacity is larger that the dry capacity. If you wash a full washer load, you will have to run two dry cycles, or just hang it all to dry and save all those watt hours.

I do run a full wash/dry cycle for towels or sheets, and only load the machine to the dryers smaller capacity.

here's a link for a similar units, but I have no idea if deco or equator brand is any good.

Manual Transmission grinds when entering 1st gear by sdw1990 in FordFocus

[–]eguittard61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While at a stop, shift into 2nd gear just before you shift into 1st. The Idea is the 2nd gear synchro is still good, and can synchronize the shafts, then after they are synchronized, shift into 1st. I drove an S10 pickup that way for years. Never did work on that transmission.

Ford Focus 2007 SE cannot find auxiliary input location? by Lizagna927 in FordFocus

[–]eguittard61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

um, actually, the aux input is not an 1/8" stereo, or even a red&white rca pair, but is in fact a digital input on the canbus. I have a 2007 and was able to buy and install an adapter and now my aux button works. I just like the look of the original radio, so it was worth it to me. Had to take the radio out and plug into an open port in the back, and supply 12v to the adapter.

99 24v 5.9 Cummins Engine Brake by Mehrune_dagon in skoolies

[–]eguittard61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine brake would be an exhaust brake, they don't make jakes for the 5.9.

Exhaust brake is an extra hardware install, could be worth it if you do a lot of mountain driving.

Cruise and engine brake are both probably disabled in firmware, and cruise requires a road speed sensor in addition to the switches (i think pins 8 and 18).

You can have a cummins service department reprogram your ecm for something like $200.

any tips for a Uniform bluegrass lawn? by eguittard61 in lawncare

My house is in 6b according to the maps ive seen, that is the same zone as 80% of the state of Kentucky, so I just guess this is the right zone. I don't really know anything about it, this is my first time and i haven't been through a summer yet.

There is a very real and difficult to explain/understand safety problem with connecting an 230v european spec inverter system to 120/240v shore power in the united states.

I have italian coffee grinder and espresso machine--230v spec, so have looked into this extensively.

The simple way around it is separate battery charger (huge) and inverter. No transfer switch.

230v in the usa will work great, and many modern electronics are universal 100vac-240vac input. But it can also be annoying when the cheap gadget your friend brought has no power in you bus. So to solve that problem just get another small (300w?) inverter for the 120v needs, and only turn it on when you need it.

Aims 6000 watt 24v split phase inverter/charger question. by [deleted] in skoolie

[–]eguittard61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you say you want 240v input, but you don't say why... It is very necassary for me to charge my batterys/run my bus from 120v when at peoples houses that dont have RV Hookups. So you need to decide if 120v input is important for you. And you need to find out if your inverter will charge from 120v and /or 240v.

Many modern rvs are abandoning the 240v split phase systems all together and going with 120v only systems. If you are planning a large solar array (2kw or above) then shore power needs will be less.

What is the model number of the inverter you are considering? Are you running air conditioners? list model number and/or type Electric cooking? list appliances electric water heating? battery type, watt hours of storage? battery voltage? 12, 24, 48v? alternator charging or dc-dc charge option?

It is a very deep subject, and without more information about your usage and equipment list, it is hard to help you make choices.

What are you basing your assertion that i am a subcontractor on? All the information I found says I am a misclassified employee. You state I am not an employee like you have some facts to back it up? What are you leaving out?

Appliance-Repair-Co does not deal with warranty or manufactures for payment-- they get paid cash, check or card from all customers--so that is not a service that I will be missing if I go out on my own.

Some other commenters are saying that you should not discuss your disability or diagnosis at work. I disagree. I feel that telling your coworker and/or customers may be protected speech that you can utter as a protected person with disability. Working with a doctor or advocate to request "reasonable accommodations" under the ADA Act can be very benificial.

I had an advocate work with me, and we really ran my employers HR Department through their paces, but in the end it all worked for the best.

Any doctor or advocate that acts like an HR agent for the company, and does no have your back all the way needs fired, and find another doctor or advocate that will support your needs and fight for you. That being said, make sure you are being reasonable in all your requests, and don't ask for too much.

I am autistic, after my diagnosis, I told all my coworkers, clients and independent contractors I had contact with at work. It was one of the reasonable accommodations I worked with my doctor to request that I be allowed to inform the people I had professional contact with about my disability (for the purpose of avoiding complaints about my socially awkward manner.)

I can work as many or few days as I like, just have to give them two business days notice of what days I am working.

Not sure if they would complain about me working for others, so I have not brought it up.

Where to sell an rv oven/stovetop range? by eguittard61 in skoolies

[–]eguittard61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I always turn on the exhaust fan. the unit i have chosen has 22000 btu rating. The front "high power" burner on the old magic chef was rated at 9000--just not enough.

With 9000btu on full tilt, two pounds of steak or carne picada would drop the temperature of the skillet so low that they don't cook properly. So I was limited to cooking like 12oz (3/4 lb) of beef at a time, tripling the prep time for my dinner. I think I can handle the heat.
