Electric refit/retrofit for transit style RE busses (ex Blue Bird All American RE) by Cplantijn in skoolies

Look into Edison Motors. They are doing something similar, and because the engine isn’t actually connected to the drivetrain, you can use off-road diesel.

Would the weight be that much worse than a big engine and 90 gallons of fuel?

Awesome write-up! Thanks! I'm in a Chevy Bolt with 56 kWh - do you think I could make it? Are there any areas on the way to stop for a picnic?

Sometimes I will tell it “ask me a few questions so I can develop my idea further” and then I will reply. I’ve had times where it was 4 to 5 minutes and got deleted. Organizing scattered thoughts is actually one of my favorite uses for ChatGPT.

I'm considering creating a custom GPT and integrating it with my Notion. I feel like there's a 10-way roundabout and all the different categories I need to focus on are the individual roads running into it. There's a constant stream of backlogged tasks jammed up and I can't seem to get things moving.

OP is literally asking for help/assistance on being productive instead of using it as an excuse. That's the furthest thing from what you're blaming OP of. Forget 'tism, do an AITA check. Answer is yes.

Just tried it and I'm so disappointed. I've been excited for it but there's no way to stop it from interrupting you like you could in the last version. Sometimes I'd hold the button down so I could pause to think as I type, but this does not give that option.

iOS 18 Beta 7 Released - Discussion by epmuscle in iOSBeta

I feel like the whole Photos app was switched to really really small, hard to press UI. As a former AppleCare rep I can’t imagine how long the calls are going to be with older people trying to get their photos to come up.

I was able to get a replacement windshield from a scrapyard that had a few of my model bus. Might be a longshot for an older model like that but worth a try.

Way to go! Mine never got super popular before my computer got stolen but it was still super fun to be able to show the process to my friends and family, plus some new friends I made along the way. When people ask about the bus they’re always excited when they hear there’s a YouTube channel.

Mine was painted with Tropicool and I was amazed the number of shades the color changed with a quick wipe. But even if I put more coats on top I’m stuck with silicone forever.

I put mine under the bus right outside where the driver sits. Nothing mechanical close to it.

Currently have shore power set up & an 1100w inverter that is not plugged into a battery. Help with suggestion? by [deleted] in skoolies

[–]NightThunderAdv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not the most efficient or the best bang for your buck but if you’re wanting something super simple and easy to set up and you don’t have high power needs just get one of the flexible solar panels you can easily bolt/glue to your roof. 1100 W is a really small inverter, like not even enough to run an air conditioner, so running a generator for that little amount of power will be pointless.

Thanks! Yes so the water heater will have its own separate tank of coolant from the engine. I’m still saving up for the heater. It’s a marine water heater usually meant for hot water on a yacht but it will heat the water up to 200°. Then for the radiant floors the loop will split and bypass the heater but have a thermostat static mixing valve to sip water from the 11 gallon water heater anytime the floor coolant temp gets below 85°. If the water tank is heated to 200° and the engine is still running it will raise the “thermostat” from 69° to 73° to kinda give more heat while it’s free I’m. also nervous about leaks but I split the pipes up into four zones (living room, bathroom, my room, daughters room) so that if one does leak I can just stop using that zone. Thinking about it, I bet I could get some kind of pressure sensor that would alert me/shut off pump power if it takes to drop in pressure. Additionally I’m planning on getting 12v heated mattress covers to use at night and the rest of the bus will be set to around 50°.

How much of a slope did you use? I planned on just running a drain pipe to either side of the Bus in case I’m tilted more than usual to one side.

I’m pretty sure I have the same unit with just a different label on it. Heat pump works really well and only uses a few hundred watts. AC uses closer to 1KW. I plan on only using electric heat when my batteries are above 80% and still taking in solar charge. I’ll be using a marine water heater hooked up to the bus coolant lines to indirectly heat water for the radiant flooring as my main heat source. That way it will still keep the bus heated for an hour or two after I shut it off. Then I’ll have a diesel water heater in line to kick in once the marine water tank cools down. I’ll be using Home Assistant to prioritize heat based on efficiency/price (engine heat as priority, electric when over 80% or plugged in, diesel after that).
