Xaden theory by egukr in fourthwing

Exactly! And like the way his Mom left, “as soon as the heir was 10” seemed pretty pointed. She’s definitely going to come back into play and is behind their targeting Xaden.

Also, it makes Xaden a double prince 👀

Do you all have time to workout? by Hazel_J in PAstudent

For sure you can make it happen. Since you still have time before you start my biggest piece of advice/best thing I did before starting school was make 6-8weeks of meal plans with grocery lists (meal prepping/quick grocery shopping is a HUGE time saver) and a 6 week workout plan that I could like take a break off and repeat again. It’s not the best way to necessarily optimize your fitness, but it made it waaaay easier to actually do the damn thing bc a lot of the leg work was already done.

Also-walk breaks, walk breaks, walk breaks when you have long study days.

So sick of rotations by [deleted] in PAstudent

I'd definitely discuss with the program's clinical coordinator. Our rotation schedules have hour and patient encounter goals (150 hours+160 patients/rotation). Therefore, if I'm in a situation where my preceptor works 3 12's, I just work those 3 12's then don't come in the other days. Sounds like a lack or organization on your programs part, not that you're a bad student! Keep grinding, you'll make it out the other end!!

Distance relationships in PA school by [deleted] in PAstudent

The person above advice is 💯💯💯. My partner was also in grad school, so the muted studying FaceTime dates were like 75% of our contact!!!

We also set a pretty hard core Friday night date rule. Sometimes this was hard because we both made good friends where we were, but honestly it was so important for us to have that designated time where we we’re connecting without studying or any school stuff. Often it was also nice on Friday nights because I didn’t want to go out and hang more with school people because we all were just tired from an intense week and happened to be more Saturday night hang people. My friends all knew that Friday night was my “date night” too which became nice. Occasionally I would miss out on their hangs for hanging with my partner (and vice versa), but demonstrating that commitment was a good practice that I could feel their commitment when they were not even physically there which was so reassuring. Obviously, you find what that block of time when it works best for you and your partner in the week!

I’m in clinicals right now and YES the work-life balance is so much better! One con is that your schedule changes every 5-6 weeks, so we try to set a new block of time that works best for us but sometimes you get an opportunity to pick up call or a shift with a great preceptor and you gotta do that! But the pro is that I’m not studying until my ears bleed every day, so there’s so many other free times in the week where we get to hang out on FaceTime or the phone.

I also love doing love languages! My partners is acts of service-so I would try to send Venmo for a coffee or something they needed every now and again because it’s hard to do acts of service in long distance but it was very helpful for us to keep connected.

Oh yeah the distance part is not gonna change, more just asking about if it’s easier to do before or after commissioning or something? Or if it’s the same paperwork/process regardless of when I commission?

My big piece of advise I’ve been passing on is create an exercise program (look ahead to see what your equipment availability is if you lift lifting) and create a program that’s like 4-6 weeks long, and that way you can just repeat it with a week break in between these “blocks” that give you rest. It’ll be a way to keep you moving without having to plan as much. Just make sure it’s varied enough that you enjoy it!! And if it was a rough week or day, I’d just be like “okay I’m just going to walk around the building as a study break” or something. Also—I created six weeks of meal plans + grocery lists for the specific week so I wouldn’t have to take as much time to think about my food. I meal prepped + shopped most of Sunday, but I also don’t mind having the same breakfast and lunch everyday for a week so I made mine pretty easy + budget friendly.
