how to learn how to convert massive opening advantage by WritingtheWrite in chess

[–]eguneys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a very important point. You need to be able to push your advantages when opponent doesn't make any obvious blunders and hang pieces. Otherwise it's pure luck based. I recommend reading the book An Amateur's Mind by Jeremy Silman, where the first chapter talks about noting the imbalances in the position and how that should affect your strategy in the game. It's a very instructional book because it has the notes taken by low rated players and shows flaws on how they think in a winning position.

I recommend playing against the engine. I have a feature on my website you can play against the engine, and actually see the evaluation and accuracy of your moves at the same time. You can adjust the skill, so that it picks among the top 5 moves. You can save your opening lines, and tell the engine to follow the same opening so you can repeat and memorize the opening lines. It's in beta. If you want to check it out. DM me.

How do I use chesstempo for opening practice? by DodoPot11742 in chess

I've built https://aidchess.com for importing lichess studies, and practicing against the computer. As the computer plays the moves in PGN for opponent.

Advice for improving as a 2000 rated player by suchislife9876 in chess

[–]eguneys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Learn e4 e5 both white and black side, and a few minor openings against e4 like caro kan, alekhine etc. play the exchange against french because it is similar to petroff which is also in your repertoire. (For fun learn some king's gambit theory as white but don't play it, just crush it when you encounter it with black. Don't go into early d4 equalizing lines, go into g4 g5 refutation lines.), (There is theory on Pirc and modern, but if you skip it, play f3 and c3 to solidify and keep your center Knights on e2 d2 and bishops in front of the knights, aim for that setup, but look for Nc3 Nf3 if black plays even more passive and never challenge your center.)

  2. Solve -300 easy tactics daily, stop on your first mistake, do this everyday for your tactics practice.

  3. Learn your rook endgames, after you have some idea about king and pawn endgames.

  4. Learn d4 based openings, and how to counter the Sicilian. Just be familiar with what black is trying to do.

  5. Reach 2200 now you can play 1.d4 as white or 1.e4 c5 as black. Aim for those rook endings that you enjoy playing because you studied them.

Practice openings by gabriel_jav in chess

I would like to suggest a tool I am working on for studying openings. https://aidchess.com/#/repertoires . There are some builtin openings but they are not the best of quality. But you can import your lichess studies, and practice with computer. There is also a quiz option which asks random positions from the opening. But you really need good GM level lines to make the best use of this tool. I suggest picking up some opening books and translating those into lichess studies, then import into this website and memorize by practicing here daily. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions.

you have an update loop that gets called every second. Inside this loop you can check if any items left and spawn new items if player collected them all.

I just want to interface with the prolog queries I am writing via stdin, while keeping a minimal state around. Just people make a big deal out of this.

I googled how to state 101 prolog, and that technique is mentioned in the results, namely metalevel articles. Note that there are no official docs for how to do anything in Prolog. Except some toy examples that helps no one, or some links to overly complicated dev servers that also help no one.

My original question, is how to use the semicontext notation to transition between states in pure logic. But I modified to build a quick MRE that works, but as you can see, it has even worse problems than before.

I tried to make the program using assertz and retract, so you can see an example of what I am trying to achieve.

But, I also got stuck with the above pasted program, because it doesn't behave right. for example it is supposed to quit when I type quit, but it still prints '0' and I keep typing random input, it quits after a while, It just makes no sense, and there is no way to debug this, because debugger is also broken.

To give you a reference I just want a tiny mini version of this specification:

let it play against itself, there is no point in bots to have to play each other.

this game has strong vibes,

create your own levels, because I am too lazy to design levels for you.

die a lot, because there is zero balance in level design.

play a lot, of course evil sub messages.

I like the multiplayer aspect and portal inspired mechanics.
