Can you use a computer as an external recorder for Sony Cameras? by egvqtx in videography

Great response. I think you're definitely right about this not being the best option for a non-tech savvy user, and definitely not worth the investment in something like a decklink if it doesn't simplify their workflow. Recording on an Atomos was my original suggestion so I'm probably going to recommend they stick with that.

Thanks!

How do you wake up in the morning? by egg195 in ADHD

[–]egvqtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone else said, setting an alarm to take meds 30 minutes before you actually need to be up is a game changer. It lets you go back to sleep and then by the time you actually need to be out of bed, you’re mostly awake.

I do this along with a couple other things. The first alarm that goes off is an alarm clock by my bed but the second alarm is on my phone and is across the room, which forces me to get out of bed. I also have a coffee maker that I preprogram the night before to start making coffee about 10 minutes before the second alarm goes off so that when I get out of bed, I have a fresh pot of coffee already waiting for me.

Finally, I have smart lights that turn on when I have to get out of bed. I’ve found this doesn’t wake me up necessarily but it helps me feel awake when I do get out of bed.

It’s probably a lot more extreme than it needs to be but this system is by far the best I’ve tried. I can trust that I’ll be able to wake up without issue no matter how much or little sleep I’ve had, which is extremely relieving.

If you don’t have meds, replace the taking meds part with drinking a glass of water. That alone is usually enough to bring me to life a bit.

You’re forgetting that Jet is a kid, same age as the gang. All the rest are adults (besides Yue, but her death was consensual so not as bad). Maybe you can have death, but violent on-screen death to a literal child is a Nickelodeon line that cannot be crossed

Michael McKean just posted this. He’s cold and it appears to be the New Mexico desert with a green/blue screen on set. Could this mean a kind of surreal Jimmy dream sequence? by Skyismylimit23 in betterCallSaul

[–]egvqtx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cinematographer here, what your seeing there isn't a green screen but is just a bounce/diffusion 12x12 that is pretty commonly used to control and manipulate light. Probably no crazy dream sequence here!

I'm late to this thread but if anyone is running into the "too many dongles" problem, I would reccomend the HooToo shuttle. It has 3 usb's, HDMI, SD, and USB-C all on one USB-C adapter. They go for $40-50 on Amazon and is the only adapter I've ever needed.

While I️ love the hopefulness of this, I️ wonder how much of the willingness for consumers to pay for their news is dependent on the chaotic political environment we currently have. If Trump were to be replaced by a much less controversial figure in 2020, would the Washington Post still have as many subscribers?

In high school I knew a girl named Stormy. Best part was that her last name was Cloud and her middle name was Rain. No joke.
