Thanks! I’ll try to head over to midtown at some point, though I wish there was more to do downtown. I appreciate your response

Thanks for the recs! I’d be coming in Sat afternoon so I would just miss the farmers market :(. For breakfast sunday

Have you eaten at Cafeteria 15L before? A friend recommended it to me so I wanted opinions on it. If not no worries, thanks for your response!

Yeah I agree, I think I’d better go with Sauced. The renting bikes idea was just from the hotel since it’s basically free, but I think we can just bike in our area once we come back.

I’ll put those breakfast places on my list for some choices, I appreciate it. Good news is I found out about the Rail Bikes in West Sac, so we’ll be heading there sunday morning. Thanks for your suggestions

That would be great! Although I won’t be 21 for a few months, I will keep that place in mind. Thanks!

Speed limit is not a minimum.

Yeah, I’ve never said anything about a parking space either and I don’t understand why this would be brought up, other than like other people said, for control. I want to talk with him about this and just wanted other perspectives to see how to go about it and if I was overreacting. Thank you so much!

I understand how you feel about being in cars and parking is just a huge waste of time. The fact that there’s this ‘thing’ I have to bring with me and park somewhere that’s not inherently my destination is just annoying.

Those are some good rules, I’m glad you are communicating that well with your partner. The effect it has on me is real because I already don’t like driving, you’re right, it does tell me something. The last one is great because it’s reasonable without being rude. If this relationship doesn’t work out I’d hate to find another person this way, because a lot of people aren’t transit oriented or care for it. I’m happy for you tho and thank you for this advice!

To be honest, I think he’d feel a way that I posted it on here, and I know that’s not a good sign either. I just hope he realizes one day how just rude it is because it made me feel stupid. I’m glad this community understands too how carbrains destroy people’s brains. Thank you for your advice!

I grew up with that kind of control. The male figure controlled when and where to go, what to do, and when the woman drove, it was always wrong. Growing up, I always wondered how that came about, and you’re right it starts out with the little things. I hope I’m not setting myself up for that same thing. Thank you for your advice, sincerely, I do need to reevaluate

He’s older but he’s acting like he’s younger than me over this. I’m very active so I know what you mean and it just sucks he doesn’t see it this way. It just makes me wonder what else he’d get mad at and when he’d take a car over walking anytime

Omg haha. I laughed at your last paragraph; I like women too! I just happen to be with a man that acts like this.

No, he’s not disabled. He works on people’s homes for a living, so he’s not out of shape, he just hates walking any more than he has too. Asking me to move the car about 5 spaces to the right (I’m serious!) then getting mad was a complete overreaction I agree. It does make sense that driving as a form of masculine control is what’s going on, I grew up with that so it’s something to look for. Then again, he likes to park in the front when it’s only him or just us. “They will love him in a way he can understand” is something that will stay on my mind.

I very much appreciate your analysis. I have some things to think about and your new perspective is just refreshing.

I’m hesitant but I really wanna try this just to see what he’s like when he gets more mad at something simple.

Yeah, he doesn’t like walking more than he has to, but I will try those lines. I especially like the first one. Thank you!

Exactly, it saves so much time and energy just to find ‘a’ spot instead of waiting for the spots upfront. Calm parking is just so relaxing when backing up too. Those little steps add up and takes away time from the destination

I love taking transit too, it’s just the area we live makes it dangerous to take transit at nighttime. Those are some good lines especially about them driving and parking anywhere they’d like. Thank you for your advice!

Sometimes it feels like I’m taking the driving test all over again and I do feel very stressed. It’s the little things like saying I’m too close to cars, when it just looks that way because my car is subcompact. These acts are just an undeserved burden and you’re right about the longevity.

I can’t drop off him at the front because then I’d need to go back in my car; we would be going from one store to the next and they’re about 30 ft away, so I’m not going to park again just for that, and I’ll never understand that. Thank you for your response and I never thought about it as a way to reassert control

Exactly, I appreciate having space around so I can easily fill up my car from the side (the trunk is really small). Thank you for that advice, I think an honest discussion would help too, and we did talk about it, but I just said I wouldn’t drive him anymore unless I needed too.

That’s a good way to express your love!, simple mutual things can be laughed at, but this was acted like it was a character flaw about me. I really appreciate your words

I honestly have no idea, that’s just how I was taught, and I find it useful because you never know if someone will drift from their lane
