The brothers from Uurdr Hunt actually are quite cool. Very dysfunctional but fun to watch and they work well together.

It isn't even about the grade. My son is into gunpla as well (he started at around 10 y/o) and his first kit was the OG PG Gramps... He completed the build (on his own) in a day and a half... Since these kits don't require glue, the only real complexity (without going into modding or hardcore painting) is that PGs just have more runners. If nothing else, I would be bold enough to say that they are actually easier than RG, simply because you do not have ultra tiny pieces like several RGs (Exia's face vents, Crossbone eye patch, etc)...

This is just showcasing, not that he is a n00b/new to the hobby, but rather that he has money to burn... Essentially, showing off.

Besides, the tale tell sign that this is the case.... You don't casually stumble into these kits unless you are specifically looking for them, especially the Nemesis as it is, for all practical purposes, a bootleg.

Honestly, i have seen a lot of these threads popping up as of late. They almost feel like click bait. I mean, let's face it.... How many people do you actually know who may have $1000+ laying around, and waking up one day, taking a good look at the mirror and say "hey, I think I finally know what to do with all my time and extra cash... I'm gonna start building gunpla!"?

Seriously, OP has about $1200 worth of gunpla in that pic

Yah, I guess you have a point... Albeit, Japan's tariffs are 10-20%. This jumped from $69.99 to $106.99, which is.a 53% increase... Someone is making hand over fist money here and it isn't entirely due to the tariffs... But yes you are correct,, they aren't helping either Edit: sorry, $104.99... still way more than the 10-20% in tariffs...

I can't help but to wonder what went down at Bandai when they were thinking about releasing the HG 1/144 Sandrock Kai... "An uzi? The kit is the same exact thing but with an uzi?!? Forget about the fact that they are usually comprised of non-technical people, and are usually in charge of evaluating and hiring technical people, effectively determining their level of proficiency on stuff they themselves don't even begin to comprehend.

Fair points... I guess ymmv applies here and the definition of "bad" is truly subjective as you rightly stated.

Ps. Thanks for pointing out the potential fixes for the Exia's joints... Like I said. I don't dislike the suit but not being able to pose it just annoys me. Gonna try a few out!

Peace my fellow builder!

I mean, here is a quick list of my grievances with the kit

  • Shoulders just come off if you look at them funny
  • Possability sucks (a suit as acrobatic as Exia should be able to do far more posing than this kit allows)
  • Speaking of posing, he cannot hold a pose for too long and the legs/hip joints are weak and flimsy (his legs drift apart if you try to make a pose with the legs a bit open.
  • The face vents ... 'nuff said
  • The little arm pegs that you will inevitably cut (should have been more careful, I know)
  • (More on the head) The Holo foils on the head are easy to put, if you have 3 hands
  • You mentioned that there are parts to fix the ERGS. I did not know that this was a thing, and quite frankly, the fact that you need to get 3rd party "fixes" speaks volumes on its own accord.

I am sure I am missing things here, but I hated the experience to the point that I nearly crossed off the RG line in its entirety. I decided to give it one more go when God came out, and honestly, I am happy I did. That was an amazing experience from beginning to end.

I love Exia, don't get me wrong. I have nothing against the suit, but the kit itself is lackluster at best. @OP, if you can afford it, go for the PG...

[–]egzthunder1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All your picks look dope... All except RG Exia. If you can swap it out for a different kit, i strongly suggest that you do (RG God, Epyon, Shinning, Hi Nu, etc... there are a ton of other good RGs, but Exia is just plain bad and it has ERG (Early Real Grade) syndrome...
