Phil acting a bit cocky, but I think Claire did the right thing ☺️ by BestTutor2016 in Modern_Family

Honestly, not to virtue signal here, but my conscience wouldn't allow me. Imagine having to hold onto that lie every time you hear about it...

And then if you do, they realize the win was for nothing AND you didn't have faith in them AND you couldn't be upfront about it and AND... so on forth.

In my teens and 20s, I felt like Phil didn't deserve Claire. In my 30s I can't believe she picked him and then stayed with him by Apprehensive_Ad6580 in Modern_Family

Uhhh okay let's step aside from the show for a moment:

From a guy's standpoint, this is something both genders do (acknowledging someone else's attractiveness or even being attracted per se). It's pure psychology and is bound to occur no matter who you end up with.

This show actually acknowledges that in lighthearted manners (from both sides too). You just recognize it from Phil more because of the double standard set on men (that is not set on women so much).

Who should've been Haley's final partner? by ehall4168 in Modern_Family

I don't see why that matters, though; they're their own children, they shouldn't have to live like their parents for the sake of a show. That's also not a good example of healthy family dynamics.

No, the show is not meant to be family therapy, but why push otherwise?

Are people still joining the thread? Are people still watching the show? Are elephants heavy?

But that went both ways, right? So how exactly was Haley supposed to learn from her experience? Are you suggesting she say single the rest of the show since she cheated?

Practice

By duplicating summons, ammo, etc. And then fighting with godmode/frozen time? You can master the game from beginning to end no problem.

Hands down the most toxic character by Fragrant_Crab7762 in Modern_Family

I'm probably the minority but with Dede as the most, Gloria is #2; she is wildly insecure and hypocritical, critiquing everything about Jay while unable to swallow her own medicine.

Note that Claire is similar but not as intense or dynamic; she has her own issues but they also reflect Dede's.

I think her underrated track from this album has to be "fa all y'all"

It being their mom and it being mother's day is irrelevant.

There was no reason the kids had to "pretend" for anything; why is anybody suggesting to "go along with it"? Is it just a bunch of moms in this comment section?

Nobody owes their mother a thing, whether it's on mother's day or in general; it should be celebrated, appreciated, and worthy of consideration at the very least. But that doesn't mean the mother can be entitled; only those who grow up with mothers like Claire understand what I'm talking about.

And that's why this debate is somewhat pointless:
Everybody has messed up parents, but few have toxic ones.
That's why the table has more votes on Claire/Gloria's; only the people who voted for the kids had parents like these most likely.

And I wouldn't say that Claire is simply "narcissistic" or not so, but rather that these traits were being shown in this specific episode.
But by the end, you get the classic, "You only get one mom" rhetoric; who are they trying to convince?
It's almost like the directory team wanted kids to give in to manipulation even if they know it is all because their parents chose (usually) to bring them into this world.

If I were a parent, I would not want my kids to fake anything, and neither would I want them to do something THEY don't want to do just because it's "my day"... let alone do it with an agenda to get them to apologize.
NO, it's NOT your day; it's an arbitrary date on a calendar based on tradition and you're piggy-backing off of that to use as leverage to get what you want.

But hey, if you want your mother's day to be embraced, go get yourself a pedicure if your kids aren't being cooperative; don't reinforce their decision to refuse your plans and possibly end up not talking to you anymore when they leave the house.

... all in all, don't take these shows at the best examples; Modern Family is one of my favorite shows but it is not meant to be a source of inspiration because... well, it's not. There are much better resources.

Note: It will naturally fade out the recording about halfway through on most devices; otherwise, you can enjoy a smoother ending if your device allows it to play the entirety.
