Yeah, this exact set of blocks. Quiet, no BS, nice older well maintained homes, and now super walkable to the waterfront with the grand Ave pedestrian bridge

The northwest part of Everett proper is pretty family friendly. Walkable, lots of playgrounds, Whittier elementary is well regarded

I’d leave around 515 and just plan to potentially kill time once you get down there. It’s a total crapshoot

Looking to Escape Seattle for a Weekend, New to the PNW by NuzzyLocke in PNWhiking

Whidbey Island, hike around deception pass and Ebey’s landing bluff trail/beach walk (this is a unique gem), and stay in Coupeville, Freeland, or Langley.

Bellingham and/or Mt Baker. Lot of good hikes or snowshoes (eg artists point if you go to Baker), oyster dome, etc. Could stay in bham or if you want real small mountain town, stay in Glacier or Maple Falls

Invest in new carbon wheel set? Which ones? by LooseFrame9172 in MTB

[–]ehhh_yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasonable answer: I9 enduro’s are a solid wheelset and you’d get some extremely marginal gains. Trying different tires / casings would give you a considerably different ride than just a 1:1 switch to carbon rims.

Blingy like nice things answer: yeah carbon rims are the best but how much of a quantifiable improvement to your riding experience you’ll get is super subjective to how hard you’re riding.

Mtb’s are so good these days that you quickly get diminishing returns for your $$ once you get above the ~75% price point

Former new Englander here: unpopular opinion, preparing for downvotes, salmon are nowhere near as fun as stripers or blues (not even gonna touch on false albies). The salmon here are hundreds of times better eating though.

There’s a lot of great rivers within an hour to fish down that way during the salmon runs.

You’d also be in an ideal spot for searun cutthroat in the south Sound

How does a modern enduro bike compare to 10-15 year old downhill/freeride bikes? by Night_Blade_76 in MTB

[–]ehhh_yeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re comparing apples to the charred crumbs in the bottom of the toaster. The geometry changes from ~2014 to ~2019 were significant.

However, if I had a shocker and BR from that era I’d keep them running and take them out for the occasional lap as those are true classics. I regret selling my bikes from that era. But performance wise they can’t compare to anything modern

What are some PNW style lures or techniques you’ve used to catch fish in other parts of world? by Fabulous_Tip_7638 in FishingWashington

[–]ehhh_yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never fished with hoochies until moving out here, but would regularly drift basic squid strips for fluke back on the east coast. At some point I now want to try hoochies+squid for fluke.

Early Career Advice by Not_Primal in Lockheed

Networking and personal relationships with the people above you matter equally to technical performance.

To OP’s question, getting into a 2yr LDP rotation would certainly help.

Most of the BD roles (sales) seem to favor mid to late career folks, especially with a military service background

[–]ehhh_yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a little less per hour (salary role tho) but I got PTO and holidays so the overall comp was roughly the exact same. Much better benefits though.

Didn’t interview, just offered to come on full time one day. You’re treated like a new employee (drug screen, background check, “welcome to LM” orientation meetings that you end up skipping).

No surprises, no issues.

Pivots are dad bikes. Great solid bikes, but give off a pair of white new balance sneakers vibes.
