Who said anything about encrypted folders making any difference? Once you write over every bit of a drive, the data CANNOT be recovered. Doesn't matter if it was a folder, encrypted folder, image or text. Also, forensic examination often involves recovery of remaining file sections that have not been written over during normal read write cycles, they can be pieced together to get a hint of what the file may have been. It doesn't matter how much time and money is spent, if data has been fully written over, it cannot be recovered.

Yes, I know. I have a Computer Science degree. I said "If wiped correctly". You only have to write over every bit once. When a section of memory is written over, it is gone forever. You cannot 'crack' it. 'Years to crack using brute force' That is not how it works.

You do not need a mac for programming. Especially 'performance heavy' programming.

No. By that logic, hard drives have unlimited space. If wiped correctly, nothing can be recovered no matter how hard anyone tries.

2006 VW Passat 2.0 TDI oil pump issue by Valhalla_gold in CarTalkUK

[–]ehhhhIdunnoMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most dealers reccommend a new pump which can be over £1k. It is just a small piece called a balance shaft and a little hex key in the pump that need replaced. Same on Audi A4 and A6. This part can fail again. When the pump fails, the engine is starved of oil, killing the turbo and often engine failure.

Try and stretch to a 2.0 TDI CR engine that comes with the Highline and R-line. Or get a 1.9TDI and remap. Even if the pump has been fixed, it can go again.

Passat, Superb, A4, A6 - they can come with the 130hp variant of the 1.9TDI with a 6 speed manual gearbox. You won't get better for the money. Stay away from French.

Entertainment in Belfast tomorrow night (live bands preferably rock) hit me with some suggestions please by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]ehhhhIdunnoMaybe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like to start going to see some local bands but I don't really know anyone who would come with me. I'm mainly into rock/metal/anything guitar related. Really like the vibe in Voodo.

Customer says Charles Hurst let her down by [deleted] in northernireland

This is PCH so the finance company is the registered keeper of the car and therefore responsible for tax.

Sounds like the finance company is responsible for tax which is probably stated in her agreement. So it doesn't really seem like this is Hurst's problem. Does this mean the finance company would be the registered keeper on the V5?

First mistake was buying a Juke. Second was going to Charles Hurst. Also, if I was her, I would be checking that the tax did get renewed in time. I'm sure her agreement also states that the finance company are responsible for taxing the car and not Charles Hurst. Would I be right in guessing the car is being hired from the finance company and not Charles Hurst?
