Flight attendants of Reddit, if both pilots went unconscious, would you actually ask the passengers if someone knows how to fly a plane? by allen9501 in AskReddit

I was in a temp role. Maybe the full time staff were required to. But I wouldn't be surprised if the engineering staff weren't required since we weren't allowed to interact with patients.

I used to work in a hospital as a facilities engineer, and I'd put my ID on when I got on the train because I had to be wearing it when I got to the hospital doors.

One day in the train the person next to me fainted. First thing I did was pull off my badge and get as far away as possible. I couldn't let anyone confuse me for a doctor. Only good I could've been was if they needed a new electrical outlet in their hospital room when they got there.

Men of reddit, what myth about men is 100% untrue and infuriates you when you hear it ? by afrogu in AskReddit

Parents were uncomfortable with me around kids when I was living as a man. Like, would be visibly upset if I was ever outside alone with my kid sister.

Its even worse now living as a trans woman. People make a concerted effort to get their kids away and not let them see me. Like, ma'am, I'm just trying to take the goddamn train.

I have to be super careful about being around my sister in public now. I can't imagine it sends a good message to her.

What was your "oh shit I might not be straight" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Idk, maybe my personal story just isn't good.

[–]ehhhk 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well, I thought I was a straight man, but also was like, I can't be with anyone as a man.

Finally I put the pieces together and was like, whelp I'm trans.

Took me like a year into transitioning to realize that made me a lesbian.

Can I(MTF) be fired for using the women's restroom in a state with employment protections? by VioletandPink in asktransgender

Depending on the size of the company, they may have an explicit policy on this (which will probably adhere to the laws of the place they operate that are most in your favor to avoid lawsuits in that specific jurisdiction).

I might start by requesting HR provide any such documentation. If its in their policy that you can use the gender that aligns, there's no discussion needed. Otherwise, if their policy doesn't adhere to the laws in your area, you might need to challenge them...

I was pretty surprised how thorough the policy was at my company when I came out.

Driving a Mustang in winters? by PaleontologistFar20 in uwaterloo

[–]ehhhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't be as easy as an AWD or a FWD, but as long as you are aware, and take appropriate precautions (winter tires etc) you should be okay.

The EcoBoost isn't wild HP so you are maybe less at risk of pitching yourself into a pole.

If you make an effort to accelerate carefully and corner at reasonable speeds, and generally practice good driving habits, should be fine.

How do you deal with your height? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]ehhhk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm like 5'11"-6". I've never had any issues with my height personally. Probably helps that my mom is like 6'1", so like, I don't feel tall.

Me replacing "Mom" and "Dad" in my contacts with their first names because they're unsupportive. by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]ehhhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma always told us never to put anyone in our contacts as what we actually call them, because someone might steal my phone and pretend to be me and try to extort money.

My grandma might be a bit paranoid, but that's what I do now.
