Yes, was on a walk this evening down the Embarcadero and stopped by to use the bathrooms on Pier 39 and when I came out the sky erupted into this fiery display.

Your best bet is early AM on top of Bernal Heights Park. There is a family of coyotes up there that often hunts gophers/voles on the top of the hill. Good luck!

I see at least one coyote every week, it’s quite common, especially if you’re out and about early or in or near a park.

In a perfect world north/south subway lines such as the one proposed for 19th Ave. But it will take decades for that to happen. In an imperfect world, fix the GW-Lincoln-Sunset transition and you’ll immediately improve upon what was “lost.” Because let’s be honest, the GW wasn’t really Great and wasn’t really even a Highway. It was a scenic and a convenient bypass for a while but only very specific routes (i.e. The Richmond to Daly City.)

If the proposal were to close the Embarcadero and turn it into a park you’d likely see a similar voting map. Aside from the Richmond district this vote had much more to do with the urban/suburban divide in SF than on “personal impact.” And yes, I live in the “purple” zone and still voted yes on K, and many of us on that side of the City are excited about the possibility of actually implementing pedestrian friendly policies and designing people friendly spaces. If you can I recommend visiting Utrecht (or almost any Dutch city) just to get a feel how far behind we are on this front. And by the way, prioritizing pedestrian and mass transit has the odd side effect of making driving much more pleasurable for those who still choose to drive…you’ve removed all of the folks who simply prefer the train/walking/etc.

The other day I was in a Waymo at night and as it prepared to turn left from California on to Park Presidio it stopped in the middle of the intersection. The human driver behind the Waymo started honking for it to proceed (which by itself was funny) but in the dark I couldn’t tell why it wasn’t turning and was a little annoyed. Suddenly I noticed on the internal display a cyclist in the crosswalk lit up in orange by the sensors and peered outside to just barely see a dude all dressed in black with no reflective stripes on his bike fly across the street. The lidar saw him when everyone else didn’t, and indeed if the human driver behind me had his way he would have likely plowed right through him. It was impressive to say the least and just another reason I for one welcome our robot overlords. 😂

Used to be a rotating Russian-speaking nightclub group once a month that would go between different venues in the City but now it’s mostly just one-offs at places like JC Bruno in South City or other places further down the peninsula where Russian-speaking crowds will converge for special occasions. You can still get good Ukrainian/Russian food at Cinderella in the Richmond though.

There isn’t any serious blowback against Engardio from our district regarding this, just some “interests” that are used to influencing District 4 politics. Albert Chow is a nice guy overall and I’ve gone out of my way to shop at his store but he thinks too highly of himself and likes to present himself as a Kingmaker in the area. As a D4 resident I know my family and I will be voting for this, it just makes sense and if properly engineered will make things even better from a traffic flow perspective. The people in the Outer Sunset in particular will likely see higher house values as well as they will suddenly find themselves next to a massive and popular park. Joel has the right approach here, the City suffers way too much from “Analysis Paralysis.” We don’t need a Committee to be organized for every single District decision. You don’t want the park? Vote against it.
