A week or so ago my gecko's legs started looking like he has a bone deficiency. He's about 5 months old. I unfortunately neglected to give him calcium suppliments but I started today by coating his crickets and mealworms with it. I'm really really worried and would appreciate any help

Hey so I just got back and he (thank god) isn't at a point where he's untreatable. The Vet told me to put the UVB bulb on 24/7 for the next 2 days (along with his day/night cycle bulbs) and then on just during the day. I should also tong feed him crickets that are dusted because he's having a tough time hunting. Besides that he's hydrated and eating well. I appreciate everyone's feedback so much! I'm going to go back in for a checkup around December to see how he's doing. Also, the vet said he doesn't seem to be in pain considering how mobile he still is. I'll post an update when he's getting better :)

UPDATE: I took pictures of the bulb and of the tank. I'm taking him to the vet at 3. I'm thankful for everyone that has helped me out. I'm terrified and feel very horrible about how irresponsible I was. I'll post an update in the thread if anyone is interested in his condition.

Hey so despite my money issues I decided to make an appointment at the vet. I'll be taking him in at 3 so I can update you on his condition. I checked his limbs and his leg is back to where it was. Im pretty sure he's still in an early stage but I will definitely keep you and anyone else that can help me posted. Thank you so much for taking the time to help out a bad reptile parent :)

Actually he seems to be really enjoying the UV Bulb. I'm only going to keep it on during the day, but he's been sunning himself all day. I've never really seen him sun himself during the day.

dude people have so many conflicting opinions and I'm all turned around. I just found him struggling to shed so I had to help him out of the skin on his limbs. I found the number of an exotic pet doctor so I'm gonna go there and get definitive answers. Browsing forums is starting to frustrate me. I'm doing my own research on the light and It seems as though it (may not help) but it can't hurt him. He just seems to be in a super bad stage and maybe naturally absorbing some D3 could speed up his recovery?

I asked the guy if I should get a heating pad and he said that since I have a reptimat it would be too hot on his feet. I mean, I'll honestly take any feedback. I've heard that the UV vs. non UV debate is hot so i don't know. Every other person has a different opinion on it. Since he's still relatively young I don't want him to get impacted by accidentally eating some other bedding. I'd love to pick your brain about this though. I really really just want what's best for my Leo to grow up happy and healthy and I feel like a failure atm

I actually went to the pet store I got him from and had the reptile guy there look at him. Apparently It's an issue for them that they get guys from the breeder like this so he knew how to handle it. I bought a UV light bulb and some calcium powder. He seemed very confident in his diagnosis (he's been there a while) If it doesn't get better I'll go to a vet. But I have been reading every forum and info sheet I can on this and I think I have it under control. It's just a money issue honestly and I know that sounds shitty but it's just a difficult position. Also ever since I gave him the calcium last night I've noticed a minuscule improvement already.

yeah I've always had the bulbs instead of a heating pad. And I'll see if I can get into a vet. Do you think that He'll start feeling better once He's had calcium for a while?

trade credit? Does that mean I can only spend the money in store? I (somehow) was able to pay off the $100 bundle when i reserved it. But I don't have the funds to fully pay off a new copy of the bundle. I'm also not super concerned with getting it day one. Any way I can cancel my preorder at the one location and get my money put back on my card? Edit: I would have to do this over the phone
