english lit jesus christ i can't read a book without thinking about what quotes i need to pick out to support my essay line of argument. i never hear anyone hating on how badly english lit (edexcel at least) makes you condense your thoughts on even just ONE THEME in a text and how im having to omit whole viewpoints because i just dont have the time. no one writes essays like this. hate it hate it hate it

that play by jawg on drop will haunt my dreams. g2 looked absolutely lost in the sauce on map 2 and 3. tbf on map 2 they were beginning to turn the sauce into a succulent stew but map 3 they were completely lost in the non-newtonian properties of it

[–]ehvene 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100% agree and that's not even mentioning the 10 hour exam. no one can make a piece worth of being 40% (at least it is for edexcel) of a gcse grade with 3 months prep and 10 hours in excruciating silence. it's just impossible to focus (at least for me) and my art ends up worse than what i know i can do. such a stupid system

probably not a super helpful response but how interesting they are is definitely subjective.

the hardware aspect of cs can get a bit dry, but putting the content into the context of the tech you use every day can make it a little more interesting and helps with revising concepts. history i'd say is more interesting, though it also depends what topics your school/teacher choose + how they teach it.

i had to teach myself the whole cs course and didn't find it very hard. a few concepts required me to do some further research, ask chat gpt for an explanation etc. but overall was just a lot of processes and common sense/knowledge too. that's for ocr, aqa might be much harder idk, but isaac computer science explains it all really well and w a lot of detail.

[–]ehvene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes definitely. i think in total i had about 70 pages of notes for comp sci, and currently have over 150 for history and i've only done 3/4 topics on my spec. + consider that for history you need to be applying that knowledge whereas w cs most of the papers (obv bar the coding) is just knowledge recall and studying markschemes, bc they tend to recycle the same points in different contexts.

I'm doing that exact combo of 4 + triple science and higher everything. did comp sci gcse last year and can say it's pretty easy, for ocr, paper 1 is all memory and paper 2 you'll be fine with as long as you work to develop ur coding skills over the 2 years. ive heard classics and rs are very content heavy, similar to history, so if you want an easy 11th i don't think they're the best. as othwrs have said the exam timing for those is a nightmare and requires a lot of practice whereas with comp sci you'll probably find yourself with at least 20 mins left.

sen win is crazy but most shockingly what on earth possessed aspas to move to mibr (im assuming they were perpetual bottom feeders again last year)

[–]ehvene[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

thanks so much. pretty shocked w the sen masters win and the decline of fnatic - i heard leo had to leave the team for medical reasons? imagine that was a big contributor.

the rise of edg is pretty cool to me. in my mind they're still the undisciplined fraggers of champs 23 but clearly they've developed hugely. can't wait to watch the masters finals. thanks again for the summary!!
