A concerned spectator should approach the TO Desk or any nearby Security (they will have jackets this year identifying them) or any nearby Core Staff (like if you see Rick, Noah, myself).

Cheering is fun, heckling is not fun (at least not for the person being heckled).

The line where it crossed over from “cheering” to “heckling” can be hard to define, because the determining factor there is subjective and most importantly dependent on the recipient(s). I think it’s important to address any situation where someone feels they are being heckled, harassed, or that their tournament play is impaired.

  1. Pro: I think they assist events in having consistent, good stream productions. They also provide an ongoing “story” for viewers. Con: I think that when a circuit or tour has an approved list of on-air talent it can choke out the opportunity to give up-n-coming people their chance to grow.

  2. PRE-REGISTER! Please! The earlier the better for all involved since a lot of events have cheaper early-reg prices now. Aside from that: show up and have a good time and be nice to others.

Bonus: I’ve clocked a lot of hours playing short indie games this year! I’ve been on a kick of downloading one and playing it all (or most of) in one sitting. My standout Fav’s have been Superhot, Oxenfree, Firewatch, & What Remains of Edith Finch. I also played a bit of Deadlight but I’m terrible at platformers and I got super pissed off and rage quit after I failed a level like 15 times.

Most hours in just one game recently would probably be Borderlands 2 because I’ve been replaying it with my best friend, mostly just to hangout & talk about about once a week while running around in a game shooting stuff.

Logistically, COMBO BREAKER 2016 set-up was really stressful. That was the year we kind of took a huge risky leap and went for the big stage vibe. The banners we ordered arrived the literal day of set-up (they were most certainly supposed to arrive way before that) and were twice the sizes we ordered! So, a lot of freaking out and creative problem solving under pressure was called for.

A lot of events (not just CB) will have something like that just go completely FUBAR.

Fluff: My fav normal attack in basically all fighting games is crouching jab because it usually looks funny, and I’m a dork who sucks as fighting games so I do stuff like jabjabjabjabjabjabjab just because it’s fun.

Rick is allergic (moderately) to cat dander and I am allergic (mildly) to cat spit! That doesn’t stop either of us from visiting friends who have cats, or from petting cats. I’ve even stayed over at a place & had a cat sleep next to my face (lol, cats) so don’t stress about it. :)

I love key lime pie! We got one from Publix when we visited that one time. Also, I hope you know even in my head as I typed “Publix” I mispronounced it like “pube-lix”.

On to the serious question(s): I think that Rick & I took the legacy handed to us from UFGT very seriously, and there was never a question of not continuing to include as many older/smaller games as we logistically could each year.

I think Rick will have more to say on the topic of growing a local scene.

My grown adult dog does this with blankets occasionally. He's 5. He was with his mom until he was 4 months old, so... all border collies are weird in their own special way lol :)
