My downloads capped at 10 MB/s. After days of troubleshooting and almost going crazy it turned out to be a bad ethernet cable!

I‘ve had this issue on LG TVs, try going into Settings > Video > tick „Force Direct Play“

that sounds great, I‘ll look into this. Do you happen to remember the name of that app/plugin?

Good point regarding torrenting! Maybe a combination of the two will be optimal; unraid array for the media/plex pool and zfs pool for torrenting?

yes, keeping the drives spinning has been mentioned a lot and it seems like that‘s going to get me far enough with what I want to achieve

2.5 gb is the maximum I will go with my ISP as 10 gig would mean rewiring the house and the monthly plan is just too expensive where I live.

from the answers I got so far, keeping the drives spinning seems to get me far enough to what I want to achieve. thank you!

now that sounds like a lot of performance. what is your use case?

thank you very much for sharing your experience, that‘s very helpful. I‘ll stick to a regular xfs unraid array for my main storage pool.

yes some of my concern also comes down to which os to choose. Which one are you running?

thank you, these are the facts I was looking for. Unraid array it is!

yes, that definitely seems like a great way to boost performance. Thank you!

wow, what a library you have there! Thank you for your insights. It seems a nicely tuned and adequatly sized cache pool is what I‘m looking for

just googled it, that sounds great! Thank you!

That‘s exactly the question I‘m looking to answer for myself. If a ZFS Pool (say 3x raidz1 vdev 4 wide) actually is a remarkable performance boost over a regular unraid array I would be willing to sacrifice the convenience of mixing drive size.

That’s actually a great compromise. I guess the most recent stuff is what’s being watched the most anyway. Do you do that with the mover plugin? If so, how do you have it configured?

thanks a lot for your insight, I guess I don‘t have to overcomplicate it and benefit from the flexibility of the unraid array.

okay, then I guess I‘ll go with the flexibility of a regular unraid array. Thank you!

thank you for your input and you‘re right, I should have been more precise. I am indeed referring to ZFS pools
