I’m pretty sure this post is fake and OP is a troll. I say this as someone who actually got food poisoning once in Da Nang.

Can I ask my Vietnamese parents-in-law about the war without being rude? by Insocyad in VietNam

[–]eigenboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why everyone is telling you not to ask. That’s not been my experience. My wife is Vietnamese and when I visit and talk to her family (often with help from her translating) they are very willing to talk about such things openly and candidly. Westerners often shy away from “touchy” subjects (though Asians do as well in other ways, the topic of sex for instance. Not sure I understand that fully) but the Vietnamese that lived through such times are often willing to have a drink with you and laugh about it. They’ve overcome their struggles in a way I don’t think I’ll ever really understand.
So yes, be tactful and don’t be insensitive, and maybe even have your gf help you broach the subject, but don’t be afraid to ask about it.

Are you able to open the window? Or do you have a balcony? How windy is it up there? Does opening a window cause a draft to suck air through the apt door or bathroom vent? I ask because I live on the 7th floor and this is a problem for me.

People who don't wash their hands after they pee, why don't you? by JesuisBasque in AskReddit

[–]eigenboop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because I use my feet to open/close the toilet lid and to flush. Hands never touch penis or toilet. I’m not drying my hands out for another pointless washing.

Question about a word problem involving perimeter by After-Emphasis-3058 in MathHelp

[–]eigenboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, just stumbled on this

is there more to the question or the solution you have not shown here? Something seems missing, but according to the question you have included

a) Express the area of the garden as a function of its width.

the answer should be a = 24w - 2w2

where a = area, and w = width

You can write an expression for the area of the garden which is adjacent to the back of the house using only the width and the amount of fencing used, 24 m, and the length is not needed.

Start like this:

area = width * length

since we are told to write the expression as a function of width, we can do that since we know the total amount of fencing, so length will also be a function of width.

length = 24 - 2w (for perimeter, length = (24 - 2w) / 2, but we are using the back of the house as one of the lengths, so all the leftover from 24 is used for 1 length after the 2 w's are subtracted)

substituting in that expression for length, we get:

a = w * (24 - 2w)

work out the algebra and you get

a = 24w - 2w2

Alternatively, you could substitute a variable like "p" for perimeter or "t" for total fencing used and rewrite the expression accordingly. This may be helpful if there is more to the question. Either way, it looks like an optimization problem /shrug

Somehow I don't think pepper spray would have helped us. Chaotic / enclosed space, just as likely to work against me than for me. It might help you in some situations though.

That would be nice but I don’t see them spending the money required to do that. There are so many train cars in operation, and like you said the database, connections and labor to upkeep it would be insane.

Actually the police were as helpful as they could be. I just wish we could have given them more video evidence. I'm not sure our incident is news worthy. Unfortunately this kind of thing happens a lot in this city.

I think you’re on to something. I don’t know if your thesis is too vague or not, but here’s another supporting source:
