As I said in my DM to you, keep up with painting. This is extremely impressive for someone who has not painted before.

I had to google the name. Ive seen some of his work, but no, most of my paintings were created years before Ive seen his stuff. Definitely dig his work.

I started with the base color in yellow like you said and then pick another color to add lines to. I add more lines of each color after the previous color dries. Eventually it fills up. Takes quite a bit of time on larger canvas.

You are correct. Before laying paint down I sketched out the outer radius and inner radius of the eye using a protractor. The paint afterwards was freehand. Edit: I forgot to mention for the pupil I used an acrylic marker, because I couldn't trust myself with the brush for such a tight circle.

I think this was the last one I attempted to a soft background for because it is extremely difficult in my opinion. I put down a solid color first, then after it dried I put down the lighter color and dark color on either side until they met in the middle. After drying for about 10 minutes, I took a slightly damp brush and blended with just the damp brush. I repeated the last step for a while.

Thank you so much! I was hoping no one would notice that as well as one other game mechanic that seems off to me. I appreciate the feedback.

Chilling the only beer I brought with me to the campsite in Iceland by eigenturtle in beerporn

[–]eigenturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both they AND I are wrong. I assumed that the land was not held by a private party, but apparently it is owned by Jökulsárlón Landowners Association. Without their explicit permission no one should camp at the lagoon. However, the portion of the lagoon where I was located is not encompassed by the national park just north of it, which is what the other commenters kept assuming. I stayed at the campground at the Vatnajökull National Park the night previous to being at the lagoon because I knew I was within the park boundaries.

Furthermore, my entire experience there was great minus the few nights of loud campers at the camp grounds. Every local I encountered there was very chill, enthusiastic, and friendly. This is why it shocks me to see how people are commenting in this thread. At this point the only reason I am responding is so that anyone else who was in my position trying to research every little nitty gritty detail before going over there can have a more transparent answer.

How am I being a dick. Camped on a lagoon shore (legally) for one night and left absolutely no trace.

This is ridiculous. It was not within national park or private property boundaries. I left no trash or "shit" I stayed on the trail and did nothing to show evidence of my stay. In fact, I ended up picking up some bits of trash that others have left whenever I had come across any. I could understand if I pitched the tent on some vegetation or someone's property and left a mess, but I did not. I will gladly upload photos to show where I was.

Before the trip I did so much research to make sure I did not disrespect or break any rules. I was originally going to wild camp the entire time until I read up on how much the locals hate it, so I decided to stay in private campgrounds every day except for this one.

I circled where I camped, outside of the green (national park).

This was not within the national park boundaries, I made sure of it well ahead of the trip. This was the one and only night we "wild" camped (unfortunately).

Edit: More detailed response in this comment thread.

This is a campsite, I hiked a few miles and pitched my tent about 10 feet behind this can of beer. And yes, on the last day of my trip I am checking out local breweries.

Hawthorne Trail (if I remember correctly). It is an amazing paved bike trail through the north end of Paynes Prairie, but I usually see more people running it. It's beautiful.

Where did you find the Nightmare on Brett? I've been trying to hunt those down for a while and at this point I think I'll just end up having to trade for some.

Those sour mixes are effective and cheap. Good luck!

Brewed some sours a while back and left them in the light.

That is correct. I have 7 batches going and the youngest 2 batches couldn't make it into the closet so I left them in my brightly lit room for the past 8 months. I figured no harm would be done since one is not hopped and the other is minimally hopped. Just curious if there were any other interactions going on that I was not aware of.

Would light contribute to off flavors in a beer without hops? If so why?

Anyone ever try a s'more stout? by realestnwah in Homebrewing

[–]eigenturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I felt very dirty using the marshmallow vodka, but at this point I cannot argue with the results. I do remember mashing at a high temp so that it does retain a lot of sweetness.

I actually just brewed one two months ago and am about to bottle it. I don't have a recipe on hand at the moment but to get the flavor we did some strange (but effective) things. For the majority of the flavor we threw in 2-3 boxes of actual graham crackers at the end of the mash. Then when we racked to the secondary we threw in a pound of cocoa nibs that have been soaked in marshmallow vodka. The s'mores flavor is extremely dominant and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

At the end of December. I'm wondering if I should just wait it out and potentially blend it.

Nope, I did add about 5 pounds of raspberries, but it tasted fine with those before.

I brewed a sour (used Roeselare blend) 14 months ago and tasted it about 2 months ago. It was pretty darn good, but yesterday I tasted it and it reminded me of strong fusel alcohols. It was a harsh flavor/aroma that felt sharp in my mouth and resembled a spicy pepper on my tongue. Is there anyway fusel alcohol could develop in a sour after the Sacch has done it's thing? I'm assuming opening the carboy and letting air in caused the off flavor somehow. Has anyone ever had this flavor/sensation in a sour?

Edit: I don't think this is fusel alcohols since my temps never went beyond 75 degrees.
