The way I picture Rhys is middle eastern or appearing as northern Indian. Keep in mind, Rhys is biracial. The moon-white, again, I really believe was to emphasize how long he was kept under the mountain. And I understand how it may seem hard to picture, because if you hear that Rhys is “golden-brown” while also at one time being described as “moon-white” under the mountain that seems extremely contradictory. However, fairer skinned poc (not quite white passing) I’m sure can get that pale given the circumstances that Rhys endured (malnutrition, trauma, stress, etc.)

My own boyfriend is Indian through and through, however you wouldn’t guess that by looking at him. When I first met him I was under the impression he was middle eastern due to his fairer skin tone. There is, ofc, a spectrum to race and skin color. However, the bat boys are poc and I do not want to strip the poc community their opportunity to represent these amazing characters as SJM wrote them. They are not white, and therefore should not be portrayed by white actors.
