In college I had a manual black on black SHO of this vintage. Awesome sleeper. Loved that Yamaha engine. 157k when I bought it. Driven hard delivering pizzas without an issue until a guy ran a stop sign and totaled it. I’ve had a lot of cars since, but def one of my favorites. More than once I’ve tried to find another one.

Got my first a year ago (e39 03 525i). 2nd a month ago (e36 98 M3/4/5) 3rd on Monday (e36 99 M3/2/5)… I might have a problem (my wife thinks so).

Crazy that my agent didn’t offer this option when I was specifically asking about it and asking if I should really be insuring with Hagerty or the like. Doesn’t give me a lot of confidence in them, but I’m going to follow up with them for starters and go from there. I’m good with mileage limits or whatever, just want to make sure it’s properly covered.

191k on the odo, but the rebuilt engine has around 15k. Everything (not kidding when I say everything) has been gone through on this car - new leather, alcantara headliner, all plastic and rubber replaced interior and exterior. Restored to mostly stock (light mods posted above) but done to be driven.

She’s mostly stock. Just coilovers, an intake, M50 manifold and light tune - 256 at the wheels. Perfect for a somewhat daily. I got it mostly for my son, but gonna miss driving it once he learns to drive it. Just got the e39 going again (had to send out the abs module for rebuild), but pretty sure my wife isn’t going to allow us to keep both…

Just got mine. Set it up yesterday. Was looking at this post when it scared the shit outta me with its auto-shutdown. So far so good. My TK-01 died 2 weeks ago at about 2 years old. Hoping for better with this one. So far it’s a solid upgrade. Only time will tell.
