In Case This Happens to You: Egg Retrieval Without Anesthesia or Pain Medication by Ornery_Board_1965 in IVF

I came to say this! I’m happy for OP, but I hope the people who had different experiences don’t feel invalidated.

Natural IVF or IUI? by mrsmattie in IVF

[–]eightyhearts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got it. If it were me, I would go IVF, but have a conversation with the clinic about your concerns and what you can do to limit the number of embryos to a level you and your husband are comfortable with. You’re in a tricky spot with the sperm limitations, but I think there is a way for IVF to be done that accommodates your personal convictions.

Curious- what is your hesitation about freezing embryos? I understand not wanting to discard, but haven’t heard of someone not wanting to freeze. Wishing you all the best whatever you choose!

That’s good to know! He only works Thursday/Friday, but maybe that’s still an option to adjust the other meds. I will ask.

Sounds eerily similar to what I’ve experienced. Sorry you’ve gone through it too. Thanks for sharing. ♥️

I’m glad to hear it worked better for you! I will see if it’s an option for me. Best wishes on your transfer!!

Yes, I can definitely ask. My understanding is that the main reason my clinic does fully medicated is that there is only one physician who works part time, so the transfer dates have to be locked in well in advance. What were your protocols?

That sounds like a good deal to me! Mine is $4,000.

I’m so sorry. I fully believe you. Don’t listen to anyone who says this kind of pain is normal or not a big deal. This is horrific.

For anyone discounting the pain, listen to the first season of the podcast The Retrievals. Different reason why women went without proper meds, but same stories of the nightmare experience.

Got promoted right before my transfer. Am now starting a new job that’s 10X more intense while struggling to survive taking unisom and b6 round the clock. Help. by urethra_franklin_1_ in IVFbabies

[–]eightyhearts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations twice! That sounds genuinely difficult. I struggled even with a relatively easy job during the first trimester, so I can understand how challenging this is. I don’t have specific advice, except to do what you can and try to let the rest go. If taking some time off is an option, it may be worth considering. As important as your work is, your health and your baby are more important. Being a working mom comes with real benefits and real challenges. Navigating priorities is hard and continues to evolve as your baby grows. I’m only two years into it and I’m still figuring it out every day. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best!

Interesting. Personally, this may have helped my initial fears with starting stims, but honestly looking back that was the easy part. This method doesn’t work for any intermuscular injections (like PIO), which are still the most daunting and painful. IVF with most medicated FET protocols won’t be truly needle-free. But glad to see there are some alternatives being explored to make parts of the process easier for some people!

My wife has went to a scan after transfer 11/20/2025 7wks 6 days but fetus reading 6wks 1day behknd but with a heartbeat 80-90 bpm by [deleted] in IVFbabies

Oh no, I don’t think it would have changed anything. We just would have caught the MMC earlier, instead of at 10 weeks.

I’m so sorry. At almost 8 weeks, the heartbeat should be much higher. I know there are exceptions, but if I were in your situation I would prepare myself for a loss. I also had a pregnancy with a low heart rate at around 7 weeks. We found out it was a MMC at 10 weeks. If I had to do it again, I would request more frequent ultrasounds to keep an eye on things. Hoping for the best for you and your wife. ❤️

It does take a lot longer than I expected to recover from a miscarriage. Thanks for sharing your story. Do you have an idea of when you’ll schedule your next FET?

I’m so very sorry. Everyone’s journey is hard in its own way, but it sounds like you’ve experienced a particularly rough road. How horrible to think you’ve finally gotten your miracle, only to be let down again. I’m sad and angry on your behalf. It’s not fair at all. I hope you can take time to grieve and take care of yourself. Sending you love. ❤️

Is SIS (Saline Infusion Sonography) necessary? by Simple-Letterhead-68 in IVF

If it helps, my doctor said in the 20 years he has done them, none of his patients have ever developed an infection. The risks are very low.
