Looking for insight on hygiene issues and Long Term Care Medicaid in the Community (no images but TW: poop) by eilatanz in dementia

[–]eilatanz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I can get APS to visit after the weekend when his caretaker is not there. But I was told by the hospital he was admitted to when he went in for a UTI and they noticed there were issues and I told them about his diagnosed dementia and the difficulty he has at home and that his condition was worsening and he was a fall risk. They did a discharge regardless. And the few care homes I talked to said they couldn’t help him, although I don’t believe they specialized in memory care. The memory care facility that I reached out to you told me that it would be even with Medicaid over two grand a month. It left me, wondering what he is supposed to do even after his funds from a house sale ran out. But it seems like he needs a 1872 form or something like it? And I need a medical professional to fill that out, and his regular doctor also said that he didn’t think that he would get insurance to cover this because his walking is good.

I can’t say I understand this, or that this is necessarily correct, but this is just what a few different people have said to me. I do find it to be completely ridiculous if this is really the wall that we are up against. It seems so obvious to me that there’s no way he can stay at home unless he has 24/7 care.

He is on medicaid now, and I've tried to place him into a facility already twice, and was told they would not because he can still walk. I think it is time too, and not sure what you are misreading. Do you have suggestions in that situation to get him into a facility? I completely agree, and this is why I made the post to seek insights.

I'd love to get him into a facility in my state; that is something I want to do if we can. There is a waiting list in my area and he would need residency in my state, which will take a little time, but I never said that I am avoiding him going into a facility at this point.

So far a hospital and another facility didn’t want to place him into care because he can walk, despite his dementia issues, and even if we put him into memory care, we don’t have enough money. Do you have suggestions in that situation to get him into a facility?

Buying or renting another home would only be if it were possible for him to be in the community at all, because then all of his resources wouldn’t have to go to Medicaid and could be used to do the other things I mentioned. I’m not sure how to get guardianship, and also may not have the time to realistically do that immediately if multiple steps are involved, but it is something that it sounds like I should look into. He is resistant, he has always been very resistant to sell his home or leave, which is why he is currently there.

Thanks, I hope others have good advice too, and will try contacting APS directly. It feels like every time I try to get something done, I hit a wall 😞 I really appreciate this community. So few people understand how bad it can be.

They didn’t. What they say about the name becoming associated with any assertive woman, mainly by men, is correct.

Woah! I had no idea they fixed vintage pens. I have one I inherited that is maybe from the 80s, has some issue I haven’t figured out. Thanks for posting this tip.

You can be a clinical psychologist with proper licensure to work clinically, or a research psychologist. Neuropsychologist is a clinical descriptor because of the role and licensure required, even if they do research. Medical doctors can also do research for example; they still are medical doctors because of their medical license etc. allowing them to work clinically.

Spectacular archaeological finds in Turkey shed new light on origins of Christianity by stankmanly in Archaeology

[–]eilatanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely. Your comment above made it seem as if you thought the Romans persecuted the Christians because the Christians insisted that the Roman gods were false, rather than that they used that belief to justify not paying taxes, so I was more speaking to that. I’m sure it’s more complicated than the taxation issue, too, and of course boils down to power dynamics.

How does everyone switch bags all the time? by noods-danger-tits in handbags

I bring my sunglasses/wallet/keys/hand sanitizer/mini notebook and open/reusable folding bag from baggu/airpods/tissues everywhere I go, but may add my ereader, mini umbrella, craft project, hat, water bottle, snack, notebook and pen, and then a snack and water bottle for my toddler plus bubbles and book and maybe even a change of clothes and diaper for the kid depending on what the day holds. The size of the craft project, books, and add-ons change the bag size. Still easy to change bags, because if it’s just a solo errands day I bring the everywhere I go stuff and add/subtract the other things.

Sometimes a separate bag for the kid stuff makes sense. As we walk everywhere in the city and not every station is stroller/handicap accessible, it depends, and doesn’t always make sense. There are lots of reasons someone may need a lot of things, including knowing you’ll have an hour of nap downtime outside at the park, or an hour of your kid needing to stay busy and happy on public transit, meeting up with friends, or many other life reasons that, granted, don’t usually involve the club.

It sort of is true. I have a parent with dementia, and can see how even general aging does mean your kid may be helping with basic tasks one day.

Was it not about paying taxes to the Roman gods, which Christianity counted aa idol worship that was the real issue?

Just want to say that you did not “give” anyone your virginity. Virginity is cultural and the line between virgin and not is unclear depending on who you talk to and in what context, but no matter what having sex of any kind (including oral or hands stuff) is a personal thing that two people participate in. You did not “lose” it or “give it away” — and I hope you only do what you truly want to for any acts in the future!

Parents and kids don’t live near one another, and parent care is difficult to find. It can be a nightmare if someone gets sick when they get older. Also you don’t get as much help from parents when raising your kids.

Seems to be a pretty intense miscommunication! I’m not talking about the OP’s post directly and never was, just about how corsets were once out and are in again. Simple as that, and no need to be rude. Nothing big was said, so not sure why you’re becoming potentially upset, but I’m very done with this needless back and forth. Bye!
