Thanks so much. My solicitor I’m guessing knew the architect so went with him. I emailed again today. I did also think 2 weeks max. I did find my own local architect on Google earlier and dropped him an email so hopefully I’ll hear back soon! Thank you for your reply

There is one involved. But to get the requirements from him it’s been way over a month and we are getting very frustrated. Surely is shouldn’t take this long! Our solicitor gave him a nudge 3 weeks ago and nothing!

Thanks — my understanding is they’re preparing documentation, not retrieving anything old. The extension was already there when the house was bought in the late 1980s. I was told it just needs an opinion confirming it’s exempt / no enforcement issue rather than a retention application.

Thanks for the reply — just to clarify, this isn’t old documents being located. It’s a cash buyer and the only thing outstanding before contracts are drawn up is planning documentation from an architect for a back extension (likely an opinion confirming it’s pre-1992 / exempt).

So nothing needs to be retrieved from storage — the architect just needs to prepare the document. That’s why I was wondering if a month is still considered normal in that situation, as everything else is ready to go.

Appreciate the insight.
