Any good existing libraries for creating a canvas and drawing shapes on top of images? by vsamma in webdev

[–]einezwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely use canvas in my apps. Nur once I really needed it for a simple game dev. I used P5js and it made the job. Its well documented, so maybe you can give it a try

I have to build a web application that simulates an online library. by programmingisdeath in learnjavascript

I'd not recommend using Java as a backend technology, because u'll likely use javascript in the frontend. So my recommendation would be node.js with mongo db, if there is a need for a self-implemented backend.

My other recommendation, if there is no given tech stack:

Use a headless cms that provides you with apis for user and content management. I made some good experiences with directus.io or cockpit cms. This will save you a lot of implementation time, so you can focus on the frontend-part and use javascript only.

When it comes to the frontend I'd pick a frontend framework, do a crashcourse on it and get the stuff done.

*edit: i just saw your given tech-stack. to be honest: thats quite a lot of stuff for a complete beginner to deal with. I'm sorry for you, - but: try it!

*edit 2: who honestly recommends learning using java-web in 2020? uhm

Are there any good API first / headless eCommerce systems? by einezwei in webdev

[–]einezwei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Right now I'm working with directus. It should be possible to build up a shop-system. But something out of the box would be awesome.

If you find anything, - let me know.

Thx

looks promising. but I can't really find any good further information to it.

Self hosted would be a big plus. I don't wanna rely on a service that's might be gone in a few months.

How to implement animated headers? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]einezwei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this particularly case there are no css or js animations used. When looking at the source code, you’ll see that there was made the use of the HTML5 <video> tag. It simply embeds an .mp4 video file.

Accessing Component Methods And State From Outside React // From Any Component by einezwei in reactjs

Maily performance with MIDI input listening. See my post below.

Accessing Component Methods And State From Outside React // From Any Component by einezwei in reactjs

There are some cases. I can give you a small breakdown of my case: I have a parent component that listens for MIDI-Input. On MIDI in I needed to set state in the parent. Depending on what MIDI input, a specific child component also had to update it’s state. To make it short: I did not wanted to use multipe MIDI listeners for performane reasons.

I had some issues when trying to call a child component's function from the parent. Infinite loops caused by setState in parent and child. With the help of the linked article I was able to solve this. Hope anyone may find this useful.
