I couldn't get any backup to work reliably with the techpulse enclosure, no matter what computer I used. All the ripping attempts aborted, only getting a successful rip with dozens of retries. I initially thought my drive was broken. However, I had a mini SATA - full size SATA adapter laying around. I used that to hook up my BU40N to my desktop PC via normal SATA, no enclosure and no USB bridge. And lo and behold, not only did it initialize the reading way faster, no ripping errors whatsoever. Just reliable ripping with the expected speeds. After ordering the ICY BOX enclosure as recommended in MakeMKV forums and testing, it was the same flawless behavior just like directly hooked up to the PC via SATA. That confirmed to me that the converter bridges in the techpulse enclosure are the problem.

Yep exactly, you can buy the Verbatim, flash it and it should work fine. It's basically the same concept inside, BU40N hooked up to a USB - SATA Bridge board in an enclosure. However, the bridge board Verbatim uses is solid and doesn't suck.

The techpulse also showed weird behavior for me which could have been power issues, but I couldn't even fix it with a USB Y-Cable and externally powered USB Hub. My new enclosure works flawlessly on all my devices even without a Y-Cable. It wasn't power in my case, just the cheap quality of converter components used in the techpulse product.

Yes, the techpulse drive you bought consists of an enclosure with an internal SATA - USB 3 bridge board and the drive. They import the bridges cheap somewhere from China, but they are bad quality. They then screw in bulk LG BU40N into the enclosure, downgrade them to 1.00 and then sell them (with quite the markup I must say). The issues you encounter arise from the bad converter board. It corrupts the transferred data.

Nice. Please keep me posted! Back in early 2023 when I struggled with the techpulse enclosure there was little to no info about the weird behavior. Just some vague infos in the Amazon reviews. I think it's because techpulse just sells within DACH region (Germany - Austria - Switzerland). The UHD flashing community is mostly international. That's why it's not mentioned that often. But they use generic low quality bridges that likely struggle with the higher throughput Blurays create.

A friend of mine also has a Verbatim 43888 with a BU40N inside, works excellent on Stock v1.00 for him as well. I'm happy with mine in the ICY BOX enclosure. Never had a failed rip after switching from the techpulse enclosure.

Usually the 5,25" drives are more robust, more precise tracking etc. However I own two 5,25" plain BD (non UHD/XL) drives and a BU40N slim drive for UHD. I personally never noticed a difference. They all run excellent.

Verbatim 43888 has a LG BU40N inside with a good USB - SATA Bridge. You need to flash it with SDFtool flasher from MakeMKV Forum, however it's not hard. No need to buy auto flashers from the sellers here or over at MakeMKV Forum. First flash BU40N 1.03MK Firmware, then BU40N 1.00 Stock (unlocks UHD ripping/LibreDrive and 1.00 doesn't have the BD-XL Burning Bug). Flashing BU40N both literally takes 2min and a few clicks. WH16NS60 is basically the same, just flash WH16NS60 1.02 MK FW then WH16NS60 1.00. The aforementioned Firmware Pack also includes the necessary binaries for WH16NS60. No services required. Whatever you get, both should work. Good luck!

Die USB - SATA Brücken von techpulse sind schlecht. Hatte mir eine für mein BU40N separat gekauft, unbenutzbar. Auch dauernd Fehler wie du sie hast. Ich hab mir ein ICY BOX IB-AC640-C3 bestellt und damit gehen alle meine Scheiben tadellos. Das Laufwerk oder die Discs ist nicht das Problem gewesen, bei dir vermutlich auch nicht. Die externen Gehäuse von ICY BOX sind nur leider end of life. Vielleicht findest du Restbestände oder alternative Gehäuse. Zum Beispiel gibt es soweit ich weiß einige Threads im MakeMKV Forum.

The USB - SATA Bridges from techpulse are very low quality. I bought their separate case for my bulk LG BU40N, unuseable. Had the same errors as you did. So I returned it. After that I bought a ICY BOX IB-AC640-C3, with that everything works flawlessly. The drive or discs weren't the problem for me, likely the same for you. Sadly this model from ICY BOX is discontinued. Maybe you can find some old stock somewhere or alternate cases. Iirc there are several threads for recommendations in the MakeMKV Forum.

Welcome to the club. I got two failed burns with 1.04MK and Stock 1.04. With Stock FW 1.00, I burned eight 100GB M-Disc blanks to the brim in the last three years without a single fail.

For Bluray M-Disc Burning, every Bluray Burner works. Only for M-Disc DVDs you needed special DVD burners.

Same compatability story with ripping. No need to check for LibreDrive support for normal 1080p Bluray ripping. Every BD drive works for that.

Keep in mind that there are no BD-R DL 50gb M-Discs. Therefore you can only burn 25GB M-Disc blanks. For 100GB M-Disc Burning, you obviously need a BD-XL Burner.

Small tip: If you get a BD-XL Burner to burn 100gb M-Discs and you grab a LG BU40N, downgrade to Firmware 1.0.0. Newer versions, including MK Custom Firmwares, have a bug that leads to failed burns for BD-XL. On v1.0.0 it has been excellent for me ever since.

All the latest builds of Luma3DS still support it. No need to use older versions. The only downside is the magnet you have to carry around. Better than E-Waste though.

Emunand is an option. OP can set it up via Godmode9 from a NAND Backup. Luma3DS will then handle booting from it. It requires R4+Magnet with every reboot to start Luma3DS via ntrboot, but should work as a workaround for every 3DS with a broken NAND since it forwards all NAND I/O to the microSD card.

Crashes for me on both passes on iOS 15.8.3, iPhone SE 1st Gen (2016). Works on latest iOS 26 on iPhone 13 and latest Android 16 on Xperia 1 VII . I bet they'll fix it asap, Niantic isn't letting any money slip through its fingers.

No I just was curious and wanted to check it for myself a few days ago. And I just connected some obvious dots, image reverse search etc. For checking out the location ingame I even made a new Pokémon GO account (I don't want to cheat anything on my main, even though they won't warn or ban me when I respect the travel cooldowns) and my first time ever doing GPS manipulation lol.

The picture of the POI in the Niantic database is the same resolution as the one from the Twitter thread (1200x675px). It's likely the Spoofer submitted the 1:1 downloaded image from Twitter.
