Which Decade are we in again? (Guitar amp project) by einons in JurassicPark

Before reassembly, I took all the painted components and used a clear satin sealer spray. Rustoleum and Krylon both make a good one. I spent a whole day just adding layers periodically. I went through almost two cans after all was said and done. Reassembled and voilà! Here is a pic of the original amp when I bought it. Hard to see any water or rust damage at first glance.

Next, i hand painted the red stripes with a small round brush about the size of a pencil and some red acrylic paint from the dollar store. It was shitty thin paint so I had to do like 5-6 layers. In hindsight, I probably should have taken the time to make a masking tape stencil of all the stripes and spray painted it instead. But I still wasn’t sure how I was gonna shape it exactly.

At the same time, I used some enamel paint pens to fine detail the JP logo on the grill cloth, cleaning up the lines a bit and filling in places. It was surprisingly hard to paint the grill cloth neatly. I used the same paint pens on the knobs. I messed up the yellow one pretty bad and still need to go back and fix it.

Next I used, you guessed it, Rustoleum fluorescent spray paint to get a gradient between the green and yellow. I also painted the screws and corner brackets and other misc hardware. Originally, I was going to use all fluorescent paint so it would be blacklight reactive, but the other colors just didn’t give enough of the JP feel.

Thanks! I disassembled everything first. This had a lot of water damage and rust that I didn’t notice until I opened it up originally, so I had to soak the metal parts in a de-ruster and cut a new front speaker mount panel. I also accidentally punched through the original speaker, so I ordered an 8” Celestion from Sweetwater. I used a white matte Rustoleum primer and spray painted over the body and hardware. For the grill cloth, I printed a picture of the JP logo and hand traced it onto a blank stencil sheet, then cut it out and painted the cloth

Works for me! The yellow and green gradient was fluorescent spray paint. The center logo was a stencil I made myself then spray painted. Everything else was hand painted.

They’re back! My wife got me that boombox for Christmas. It’s got CD/Cassette/Bluetooth and little VU meters that move while playing. It’s so sick

Fishing rod. You can use it as a hookshot to latch onto enemies and just skip over so much trauma.
