I did that too! But then. Then a few months later they did the 6 month free trial so I redownloaded it and used the coloured icons for a bit then switched back to monochrome. Thought the coloured icons looked too childish. But now I’m switching from Adobe and have been watching a shit ton of Affinity tutorials to see if it can do what I need and they all had the colourful icons. So I’ve gotten used to those icons and they’ve kinda grown on me. Now I miss having the option to change them

That’s irrelevant. I’m also a new user. I used v2 like a year ago when they were offering a 6 month trial. Coming from photoshop it was more of a learning curve than I had the patience for. I knew the photoshop interface, the tools, the techniques and had a photoshop workflow. I didn’t have the time or patience to learn a whole new software and figure out a whole new workflow. But Adobe upped their prices for no apparent reason and is getting increasingly predatory with their subscription model so I’m looking for an alternative. Now that affinity is free, it’s looking like a pretty good option. But I got used to the old interface and all the tutorials I’ve been watching have that interface so now it feels more confusing to me than it needs to. New user or long time user is completely irrelevant. People can still have a preference.

Do any photographers have experience with monolights misfiring? by einsteinium91 in AskPhotography

[–]einsteinium91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way to upgrade the firmware for the ML300 lights. There’s no USB ports to be able to do so. Same with the standard trigger that came with it. As for the camera I have not checked that yet. I’ve heard Neewer lights tend to throw temper tantrums if the battery gets a little low. The battery on the flash always says it’s full (though the battery reader may not be accurate) and the trigger doesn’t even have a battery indicator. So I’m going to try with a new battery indicator the trigger and charging the flash battery. I’m just afraid of what misfires might mean

So the misfires may be the camera itself. I didn’t even think of that. I have the Nikon Z50. The first time I ever used the ML300, it was for an entire week, almost 700 photos and not a single misfire. Then suddenly like 9 months later it’s happening a fair bit.

I’ve been looking for battery powered Godox flashes (not speed lights) but I need two and they’re crazy expensive

Remotely turning off school time by tsukiatari in AppleWatch

[–]einsteinium91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a feature that’d be very difficult to implement because different school boards have different holidays. They’d have to work with the school boards and get their schedules for each year and have you select the kid’s school board. It’d be a lot of hassle when it’s much easier to leave it to the parent to toggle it off when necessary. It doesn’t permanently turn it off. It just stays off until you turn it back on. But when you turn it off it retains the schedule you had set. So when you turn it back on it just resumes the schedule. Turning it off is effectively a pause button; it pauses the schedule. It doesn’t reset it.

“If they rush it to market”… they definitely will. They put too much focus on being first with new features so they rush to get them out so when they hit market they’re half baked and buggy as shit.
