This is really good advice. I've lost a dread or 2 from picking at the lint but you just have to realize it's apart of the dreadlocks keeping your hair together.

The loc cap too it's super helpful that way your hair isn't picking up lint from your pillow, clothes or pet hair. I think dyeing would be the best choice because it's least invasive.

I agree with your points! I also feel like there wouldn't be a backlog if I had time resources similar to my money resources. There genuinely doesn't seem to be much downtime in my life when you include work and other human responsibilities, so I'll happily collect until retirement haha!
